Aikido isn't based on muscles and strength so it is good for everyone!We train and practice Embu (kata and forms) and Shiai (competition) to improve our sport, health, fitness and coordination.Aikido is great

for beginners, as you will soon pick up some basic techniques and principles. However, the more you train the more you will realise that there is a more to learn! Last Sunday we attended the Manchester Renshinkan Cup 2026! This is a Toshu Randori (unarmed sparring) competition, where competitors spar open handed. We had an amazing time and everyone cheered each other on. Check out our members throwing (or getting thrown!) in action. Shoutout to Renshinkan Aikido for hosting this event, it was so much fun!

Congratulations to all of our new freshers who are joining us this September! Whether you’re new here or a returning student, the Leeds Aikido Society will always welcome you!

Meet this year’s committee who you may recognise from last year (except we’ve all shuffled around a bit!) We’ll be running a few ‘give it a go’ sessions when the academic year starts so watch this space for updates!

The energy on the mat was amazing with so much encouragement and advice on the side! Thank you to Dani and the Malaga club for hosting and for the lovely gala dinner 🙇 we hope to come back for a future competition!
