We're back on the road again this weekend as we make the short trip over to Stanley Rangers. We're no strangers to them having played them a few times over the years and we've played at their gala twice!

Match Report

Sunday saw us come up against a new team that we haven’t played before in Dodworth Miners

Coach Amir:
From the chat to the warm up, the kids were ready for this game. My team consisted of Jacob B, Xander, Laurie, Heidi and Caleb, the kids started with the ball and made quick work of using it to their advantage. With some great runs throughout to calling the moves we have been working on in training to find the gaps in their defence, in defence we talked about the 0 against us which we did in the 1st game, in the 2nd game the kids worked tiredlessly in the heat to grind out the win, only conceding 2 tries in the 2 games the kids worked well. Another great day in the office for the kids

Coach Chris:
My team consisted of Jed, Brownie, Edward, Jacob N and Josh, and straight away we showed our dominance in both defense and attack throughout the games with Brownie, Jed and Josh displaying some amazing passing skills and support play creating havoc for the opposition, with some amazing tries being scored between them, even the opposition coach was impressed with them as well, Jacob N and Edward put in a dominant display in attack and defence as well we both scoring some bulldozing tries themselves and it was a close contest for coaches award between them. I was extremely proud of my team throughout as they all played extremely well together and an all round team effort

Coach Jacko:
My team consisted of Louie, Roman, Tobias, Issac, Jordey, and Malaki. The 1st game started strong with Louie and Roman battling up the middle to get yards for the rest of the team to work off, Tobias controlling plays really showed that training is sinking in with multiple try’s scored from set plays 8 try’s scored 1 conceded
The last game started as we left off with the kids doing what they do best getting over the white wash against a team that had a few knocks with the fast feet of Tobias and Jordey, Malaki and Issac with great supporting runs and Louie and Roman again doing what they do best we again scored 9 try’s to 0 the teams defence and attack was what we have worked on all season and I can not fault any of the kids attitudes and work rate

Coach Amir:
Yesterday saw us take the short journey over to Driglington for a tough test for the kids. My team consisted of Jordey, Zac, Isaac, Laurie, Heidi, Roman and Tobias. We started with a great warm up and chat about what we wanted from them all today and with both teams starting well, Drighlington made it hard in defence for the kids but with some fantastic work with the ball through hands and quick moves throughout all the 3 games they managed to crash over the line for some brilliant tries. In defence they kept their shape well to hold Drig out, working hard up the hill the kids did brilliantly, esepecially after a tough day the day before in Hull.

Coach Chris:
After a long and testing day in Hull on Saturday, I thought some of the players would show tiredness today against a tough Drig team but again we showed our Hunslet spirit and produced some amazing rugby, my team consisted of Jed, Jacob B, Xander, Josh, Caleb, Louie, Malaki and Edward, and every single one put in 100%, in our first game we got off to a great start and set presidency for the rest of the games with a great defensive display limiting the opposition to 3 tries, with strong running from Louie, Caleb, Malaki and Edward and quick silky footwork from Jed, Jacob and Xander caused the opposition problems in attack scoring 5 amazing tries, it was a different story in our second game which saw us having to dig deep in both defense and attack but edging it by 1 try. In our final game I was extremely proud of my team as the players were organised and showed great teamwork in both defense and attack with Jed bossing it as a number 9, Jacob organising the next play and strong powerful runs from the rest of the team with some amazing tries scored by Louie, Caleb and Josh. Us coaches agree that the improvement we can see from our amazing team is fantastic and what we do in training is now paying off showing in the games, well done to everyone 👏🏻💙💙

Coach Jacko:
Yesterday away at Drighlington I was in support of both teams. Taking Amir's team first, the team did exactly what we discussed getting up with great line speed and moving the ball about to get the Drighlington team moving. Not taking anything away from the opposition who kept coming, Hunslet really showed up dominating the win with the forwards leading the way and the backs in support with great hands and speed
The final two games I was on the sidelines supporting and directing Chris team to two great shows of rugby league, comfortably getting over the white wash multiple times to come out victors in both games, we could not of asked for anymore from the teams especially following on how they left the Hull Gala with a clean sweep of awards.

🚨🚨Today we traveled over to Hull Wyke for our 1st gala of the season and boy did the kids do great in both teams.
🚨Zac winning Hunslet’s player of the tournament, 🚨Tobias winning player of the whole gala 🚨and the Full team winning TEAM of the tournament shows that we are in great stead for the rest of the season.🚨🚨

Coach Amir

I wanted to challenge the kids to some new teams and where else but Hull. We took on some big teams and came out on top today. My team consisted of Jacob b, Roman, Tobias, Jordey, Joshua and Zac. From the 1st whistle the kids dominated in both attack and defence with some great passing to open up the defence to score some brilliant tries. In defence we made sure that we held our line and only conceded 4 tries in 6 games. It was great to see the kids playing with a smile on their faces today even through the bit of rain we had. Today was a great day to be hunslet again!

WE CAME AND WE CONQUERED: Today we were invited to play in the Hull Wyke gala against some unfamiliar teams, like Hull Wyke, Myton Warriors and Bransholme, my team consisted of Jed, Laurie, Heidi, Malaki, Isaac Caleb and Louie. We started off very strong with a great defensive display in our first game running out comfortable winners, in the second game we struggled with some heads going down and lack of concentration allowing the opposition to edge the game. In our remaining games I was super proud of the team in the way we worked well together and moved the ball around.

Concluding a full weekend of rugby, Sunday sees us make the short trip across to Drighlington for another exciting challenge.
We’ll be travelling with a full squad of 16 players, all eager to represent the club and show exactly what Hunslet Under 9s are all about. With plenty of talent, determination and team spirit on display, it promises to be a fantastic morning of rugby league. Good luck to all the players and coaches involved! 🏉💙💛

It's match day!

On Saturday, part of the squad will travel along the M62 to take part in the Hull Wyke Gala Day. With some of the biggest and most respected clubs in the region attending, it promises to be a fantastic test for our players and a great opportunity to showcase what West Yorkshire rugby league is all about.
We’ll be travelling with two strong squads, and the day will provide plenty of valuable game time, experience, and challenges for the kids as they continue their development. We’re looking forward to a competitive and enjoyable day of rugby! #
