We train most weeks from Spring to Autumn in either Leeds or York. If you are interested in playing please contact us! Yorkshire Emeralds were founded in 2010 by a small dedicated group of hurlers who were keen to play the game in Leeds. Leeds hurling clubs have been thin on the ground in recent years and we're sure there's never been a hurling club in Leeds to cater to the needs of the many Irish
people who would have played at home before moving here. The club has players from the length and breath of Ireland. Some of the counties represented are Kilkenny, Cork, Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford, Mayo, Armagh, Antrim, Clare, Roscommon, Galway even Sheffield and Leeds so we have a fairly broad background of talents on the team! We are a very dedicated bunch with many players travelling from as far away as Hull, Sheffield and Scarborough to attend training. We currently participate in the All Britain Hurling Shield and we reached the semi final of this competition in 2014 having topped the league stage. We also take part in the Lancashire Hurling Championship along with Fullen Gaels of Manchester and Wolfe Tones of Liverpool
We have previously won the Mick Houlihan Cup in 2011 and 2012, however we no longer take part in this competition as it is run by the Warwickshire County Board. We are always looking for new players and we will do our best to help people new to the area settle in by helping them find accomodation, jobs and a pub that serves a good pint of guinness!
