🏏Week 7 results🏏

The First XI got back to winning ways this week in a nail biter at Studley Royal

A delayed start meant a 30 overs a side game, with Ward losing the toss, were asked to bat in damp conditions but the pitch was hard and dry.
Tight bowling from Studley, a wet outfield and big boundaries made runs difficult to come by, but Dexter made a solid 43 with others chipping in with bits and pieces to get us upto a 130 to win target.

At half time that probably felt a bit light and we'd need to bowl well. Studley started well, reaching 33-1 beofre Dexter struck twice in two balls to get us back in the game. But at 100-4 the chase looked done but chaos ensued with Studley losing thier last 6 wickets for just 27 runs in 10 overs, due to tight bowling and fielding which included 3 run outs. We secured the points with Tod taking the final wicket with one ball to spare

The Second XI also had a tight encounter at the Lane

In a game reducted to 37 overs a side, the Seconds made a competitive 182-8 with Bower, Falk and Alfie all contribution with good starts. Burnt Yates batters made contributions all the way done their order, with Marriott and Bower picming up a couple of wickets a piece it was not quite enough with Burnt Yates picking up the win with 11 balls to spare

After almost a third of the way through the season, the First XI sit top of Div 3 and the Second XI are 6th in Div 7, with lots of cricket left to play this summer

👏 Well done to our Under 9’s 🐉 team making it to the Nidderdale Junior Cricket League Coad Cup finals day.

They’ve finished 4th overall against some strong teams. Fantastic experience and achievement for this team as lots of them are new to match play this summer
