DAZL is a not-for-profit dance and Health charity and limited company. We rely on grant income as well as a discreet level of social enterprise in order to ensure we can continue to wor

k towards our charitable aims (listed below). Vision: A uniquely positioned organisation with partnerships across key sectors delivering quality dance opportunities and training for disadvantaged and vulnerable 3 - 25yr olds across Leeds. DAZL starts where children and young people are at. By offering fun, relevant and accessible dance opportunities. A DAZL participant will be clear about their options, enabled to make positive choices, confident, happy and healthy. DAZL Primary Aim – To improve the mental and physical health of children and young people aged 3 – 19 years, particularly girls, through dance as physical activity in disadvantaged communities of Leeds. DAZL Secondary aim – To reduce health inequalities, improving the health and wellbeing of children, young adults with disabilities up to 25 years, families and the wider community throughout Yorkshire through asset-based community dance and wider dance opportunities. The DAZL Model –Reducing inequalities and tackling inequalities through asset-based community development and dance.

2. Community Leadership – Engaging and empowering local people/ communities
3. Partnerships – Supporting and delivering the wider health/ social care agenda
4. Artistic Development & Progression Support – Developing and nurturing new & existing local talent

Are you a part of a cultural organisation, cultural or voluntary group, or lead a community group?

If so, you might be able to apply for a one-off grant through the Seasons of Culture: Explore & Experience Grant Scheme.

The scheme has been created to help organisations and groups explore and experience creative activities in the city’s blue and green spaces – such as parks, rivers, canals, and woodlands – and looks to help support engagement with creative activities themed to nature, sustainability, and climate resilience in outdoor spaces. Funding can be requested for trips to nature-themed performances, exhibitions, and participatory events.

Grants on offer range from £250 to £1,500 and applications are open until Thursday 27 August.
