🇬🇧 British Team Championships 2026 🇬🇧
What a fantastic weekend of competition for our gymnasts at the British Team Championships in Basildon, Essex!
Across the weekend, 16 gymnasts proudly represented Leeds Gymnastics Club across three teams, producing some outstanding performances and results.
🏆 In the Senior Competition, the Leeds A team of Harry, Luke, Jonas, Jack and Elliot successfully defended their title, winning the Adams Shield for a second consecutive year. An incredible achievement!
🥉 Equally impressive was the performance of our Leeds B team - Mikey, Henry, Connor, Seb and Jake - who secured the bronze medal. Having two Leeds teams on the podium is a historic moment for the club.
👏 Lucas competed as an individual guest and enjoyed an excellent competition, successfully performing several new skills for the first time. His standout performance came on pommel, where he scored an impressive 13.6.
🥈 The Junior Competition presented its own challenges, with injuries and withdrawals reducing the team to four gymnasts. Oliver, Billy, Rohan and DJ showed tremendous determination and teamwork to claim the silver medal in the Bill Williams Trophy. We’d also like to wish Ollie a speedy recovery following an injury sustained during podium training. Despite being unable to compete, he remained a huge support to the team throughout the competition.
🏆 A special mention goes to Jake, who competed for the final time this weekend. Not only did he deliver a superb pommel routine to help secure a team medal, but he was also awarded the Dave Elgy Trophy in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the sport. A thoroughly deserved honour. We’re delighted that Jake will remain part of the club as a coach, where his impact on our programme will continue for years to come.
👏 Congratulations to all of our gymnasts and coaches - Dave, Jaron, Tom, Andy and Liam - on an incredible weekend of success.
