Alwoodley was where it all began.

Designed in 1907, Dr Alister MacKenzie’s first course has had almost 120 years to mature, yet his original layout remains largely unaltered.

We’d like to think he would approve.

The 4th asks you to trust what the tee does not reveal.

The drive is semi-blind, but there is more room to the right than first appears. Into the prevailing wind, finding that space is important on a par four measuring 479 yards.

From there, the ground can become an ally, with the downslope and bank on the left offering a route towards the green.
