They still need you ❤️
This morning I watched my youngest ‘baby’ get on the school bus for his first day of high school.
And it got me thinking about all the “firsts” we talk about when our children are little.
First smile.
First tooth.
First steps.
First word.
First day at nursery.
First day at school.
When you’re in the baby stage, those moments feel HUGE. And they are.
But then they get bigger… and the firsts keep coming.
First day of high school.
First time going somewhere without you.
First heartbreak.
First exam results.
First job.
First time leaving home.
And all the other moments in between when, however grown up they think they are, they still need their mum.
Every stage of motherhood is precious in its own way. The baby and toddler years are filled with so many unforgettable firsts, but the precious moments don’t stop as they grow. They simply change.
The way they need us changes, but being their mum doesn’t.
And I know that doesn’t stop when they become adults either. I’m 46 and my own Mam is still there helping me navigate the trickier bits of life. ❤️
(Yes Mam, that bit is for you. I know that despite “not having Facebook” you somehow see these posts. 😂❤️)
So to all my BBB mums currently carrying babies, chasing toddlers, juggling school runs — and to those of us watching them take another little step away from us…
Enjoy the firsts. Even the big-kid ones.
Because they’re all part of the same story.
And Tommy… have the BEST first day of high school. ❤️
And to all the mums, parents and carers loving and supporting their children through every stage — you’re amazing. ❤️
They might get bigger. They might need us differently. But what a privilege it is to be the person cheering them on.
