🏏🏆 Double League Champions – What a Season for Our Girls! 🏆🏏

Congratulations to our two league-winning girls' teams on a fantastic inaugural season in the West Yorkshire Girls Softball Leagues! 💙💛

🥇 Under 11s – East Division Champions
🥇 Under 13s (in partnership with Old Leos Cricket Club) – North Division Champions

Both teams proudly received their league winners' medals at the West Yorkshire Finals Day at Colton after outstanding league campaigns.

The finals gave our players the opportunity to take on teams from across the county, and despite the scorching temperatures, they represented Meanwood Cricket Club with tremendous determination, resilience and team spirit.

The first season of these new girls' leagues has been a huge success, providing regular match play and the chance to visit clubs across West Yorkshire. Most importantly, it has been wonderful to see our girls continuing to grow in confidence, develop their skills and enjoy their cricket.

A huge congratulations to all of our players, coaches, volunteers and parents for helping make this possible. Our girls' section continues to go from strength to strength, and we couldn't be prouder.

🏆 CHAMPIONS! 🏆

A huge congratulations to our Meanwood Cricket Club Under 13s, who have been crowned Aire Wharfe Junior Cricket League – Airedale U13 Champions!

The team completed the league season unbeaten, showing incredible consistency, teamwork and determination from the very first ball to the last. Every player has contributed to what has been a fantastic campaign, supported every step of the way by our brilliant coaching team.

The success of this group extends beyond the league title too:
⭐ Four of the squad earned selection to represent the league in the U13 Taverners Representative Team (picture 5)
⭐ An incredible six players also represented the league at U12 Taverners level, highlighting the depth of talent coming through at Meanwood (picture 4)
⭐ A special mention goes to Jack, whose outstanding 7-wicket haul on Friday was the perfect way to round off an unforgettable season (picture 6)

Well done to every player, coach and parent who has played a part in this fantastic achievement. You have all done the club proud and created memories that will last a lifetime.

🏆 CHAMPIONS! 🏆

A huge congratulations to our incredible Meanwood CC Under 11 Girls, who have been crowned West Yorkshire Women & Girls Cricket League - Leeds East Division Champions with a game to spare! 💙💛

The girls have represented the club brilliantly, and everyone at Meanwood CC is incredibly proud of what they've achieved. Coach Jenny has also done an incredible job and everyone is so grateful to the time and dedication she has given to this team and the wider women and girls section.

With the junior season now heading into its final month, there's still plenty to play for across the club, with several more teams in contention for silverware. Let's keep the momentum going and finish the season in style! 💪🏏

David Gill and Bob Guthrie rolled back the years in style today, putting on an unbeaten 103-run opening partnership to lead the 2nd XI to a commanding 10-wicket victory.

With experience, patience and a few well-timed swings, the pair made sure there was no need for anyone else to pad up!

The ICC T20 Women’s World Cup is underway and this week the Meanwood WAGs and Junior Girls have been able to participate two amazing events connected to it.

Firstly, the WAGS were part of the flag bearing ceremony for the Scotland vs West Indies match on Thursday 18th June. Everyone did a sterling job and the smiles said it all!

Then less than 24 hours later 10 junior girls were able to go to Headingley, receive some merch and then train with the women’s England squad on the Headingley pitch! Followed by an autograph session and watching the team in the nets from the stands!

Big thanks to Jenny for coordinating the events from behind the scenes, lots of happy memories have been made!

A huge congratulations to Gulalai “G” Tahiri who has rewritten the record books with a sensational 190 runs against Pudsey Congs today – the highest individual score in Meanwood CC senior cricket history! 💯💯

From the first ball to the last, G produced an innings packed with class, power and determination, leading the way in a truly unforgettable performance.

A fantastic achievement and a landmark moment for the club. 👏

What a weekend for our U18s captain, Fred! 👏

After smashing a half-century for the 2nd XI on Saturday, Fred earned a call-up to the 1st XI for our Pools Paper Mills Cup clash against .

He didn't disappoint, finishing unbeaten on 118 and guiding us into the next round with a superb match-winning innings. 💯🏏

Fred is now averaging over 45 with the bat and under 13 with the ball in what is becoming a truly outstanding season. A fantastic achievement from one of the club's brightest young talents.

Massive congratulations, Fred — long may it continue! ⭐

Our Under 9s are looking fantastic in their new team shirts for the season ahead! 🏏☀️

We’re especially proud to have featured on the front — the charity supporting the Leeds Down Syndrome Network and the amazing work they do for children, young people, and families across the community.

A big thank you to one of our generous cricket parents for sponsoring the team this season and choosing to highlight such a wonderful local charity on our shirts. It’s a brilliant way to raise awareness while supporting grassroots sport and inclusion.

We can’t wait to see the team wearing these with pride throughout the season! 💚💛
