Another race weekend behind us, this weekend was round 2 of the Mid East Regional series, with the weather looking a little dodgy Tommy and I went on our own and slept in the van and left the girls at home. 2wd day one was a good strong day with a massive improvement on round 1, Tommy managed to Qualify D7 unfortunately an incident whilst playing football before the final kind of spoilt things, a bumped head and a very dizzy upset Tommy went up to the rostrum in the wrong mindset, he made lots of mistakes unfortunately and came home 8th, still a massive improvement on his round 1 score of H1 to D8😊 after a chilled night of playing with his mates day 2 and 4wd day was here, Tommy had his sights set on a good result with his new Schumacher pb, unfortunately qualifying was spoiled by one driver who continued to take Tommy out (and others) at any opportunity 😡 his runs of a 25 and a 28 would qualify him D1 and a not a true reflection of the pace he had, after a very scrappy final Tommy ended up 2nd, for me it was a great weekend with good improvements in results but Tommy was not happy. Onwards and upwards, he finished 3rd on both days in the u13 class and has jumped up the leaderboard in the overall championship. Next up Southport 4wd National 😊👍

What a great weekend we had at the world famous Robin Hood Raceway for round 3 of the BRCA National Championships, we only found out on Friday morning that Tommy had got a place in 4wd on Sunday. So….. we packed the caravan and off we went 😊 this was to be the debut of the Schumacher PB this weekend at last! We pitted in the barn with Schumacher team so help and advice was on hand as and when we needed which was a massive help. Qualifying was very up and down with us trying different set ups with the chassis and speedo, by round 3 we were somewhere near and Tommy had a strong 4th in his heat and a 75 in round from the 120 starters, I tried to improve the car for last round but unfortunately it wasn’t to Tommys liking so we had to count a 92 in round, one day we will manage 2 decent runs! Tommy lined up 5th in the J final and with the car back to how it was for round 3 he was on it! He took the lead on lap 2 and never looked back. So a productive day with the new car and hopefully a bit of confidence as we head back to Robin Hood Raceway again at the weekend for Round 2 of the Mid East Regional series.

An early start this morning heading down to NDOR THE HOME OF 1/8 AND 1/10 OFF ROAD which I needed like a punch in jaw 🤣 Tommy wanted to get some 2wd practice as he’s driven 4wd for the last god knows how many weeks, practice started rough🥴 over driving and leaving me scratching my head on how I could help, lots of set up changes round after round then a switch to the low grip car with a couple of tweeks worked a treat. With a 3 and 4 in round to count qualified Tommy 5th for the A final, Mr cool did his usual, drove a cool calm final after getting binned in the 1st lap and dropping to 8th, he pulled his way back through the field and finished a very credible 2nd place and we even made it home in time to watch the boring F1

So last weekend was supposed to be a weekend of Testing with the new Schumacher PB, no such luck, with a couple of parts missing that we needed for an Astro setup and a busy working week meant a quick strip, clean and rebuild for the Xray XB4 24 before we headed for RHR on Saturday morning, after a couple of practice sessions Tommy was not happy with the setup, I spent the day chasing setup while Tommy got more frustrated not being able to push the car and was making more mistakes, we decided to call it a day before the finals and head down to NDOR THE HOME OF 1/8 AND 1/10 OFF ROADfor the Modelsport Vintage Masters Events round 2, we had booked in the modern support class rather than running vintage. After a great night in the premier inn with the modelsport team 🍺 we woke early Sunday morning to Tommy being full of cold and feeling pretty groggy, good old calpol saved the day! With practice done Tommy was happy with the changes I’d made to the Xray and round 1 was a pretty decent run, for round 2 Tommy was very kindly offered a Schumacher PB from Paul Mitchell, which he jumped at! And then proceeded to go a lap faster and slash 1.2 seconds a lap off his time with his own car! Paul very kindly let Tommy use the car for the rest of the day, he had a great day and enjoyed been on the rostrum with the fast guys again.

Another race weekend in the books, another Monday morning feeling broken 🤣

National round 2 at BMR, with no 2wd entry it was just 4wd again for Tommy, the track was tough! Bumpy and technical, we struggled all day for set up, speed and consistency, definitely a learning day for both Tommy and myself, qualifying high point was a 74 in round beating his potteries pb of 81 😊 Tommy lined up pole in J main much to his disappointment, we tried a couple more set up tweaks for the final which paid off, he dominated the final from start to finish, winning by 12.7 seconds and showing he has the pace to be much higher up, it’s all a learning curve and 5 events into his 1st ever season of outdoor RC racing I couldn’t be prouder of my little mate. We all had a great weekend away, meeting new people and spending time with some great friends.

The 2wd 2025 VMR jingle bell cup at Bury is done, it’s been a long day! Out at 6.20am and home at 7.45pm 🥴 Tommy’s had a great day and driven bloody brilliantly! High point of an 8th in round in round 2. He lined up B4 and finished B5 after a scrappy final. All in all a really good positive day 🏆
