Achilles tendonitis doesn’t get better because you rested it. It gets better because you rebuilt it.

I see the same pattern over and over. The tendon flares up, so you back off.

The pain settles after a week or two, you feel fine, and you go straight back to your sport.

Within a fortnight it’s back, and it’s worse than before.

Rest only quiets the symptom. It does nothing for the actual capacity of the tendon.

An Achilles that can’t handle load is an Achilles that will keep breaking down every time you push off, sprint, or jump.

The fix isn’t stretching it, foam rolling it, or babying it. It’s progressive load.

Slow, heavy, controlled work that rebuilds the tendon’s ability to take the demands of your sport again.

Done right, it’s the difference between managing it forever and actually getting on top of it.

At some point, a lot of us start believing we’re just getting old.

The knees hurt.

The back gets stiff.

You gain a bit of weight.

You stop jumping as high.

You don’t recover like you used to.

So you convince yourself it’s age.

Most of the time, it isn’t.

It’s years of random training.
Years of stop-start consistency.
Years of trying to train like your life hasn’t changed.

Let’s be real.

Most former athletes don’t need more motivation.

They need structure.

A plan that fits around work.

A plan that fits around family.

A plan that keeps them strong, athletic, and in the game for years to come.

Because the goal was never just to lose weight.

The goal was to feel like yourself again.

Let’s be honest about what getting older does to an athlete.

The jumping gets harder.

The first step slows down.

You play against a younger guy and you feel it. That half second you used to have just isn’t there anymore.

I’ve had to swallow that pill myself.

I’m not on a court every day now.

I’m building a business.

I’m showing up for my partner, my friends, and my family.

Life pulls you in directions that eighteen year old you never had to deal with.

So no, I’m not the most athletic guy on the floor anymore.

And I’ve made peace with that.

But here’s what I won’t make peace with.

The idea that getting older means it’s over.

That you quietly accept the decline, hang it up, and decide your body can’t do the things it used to.

That’s the lie most men buy into.

And it’s a choice, not a fact.

Because the truth is, you never stop being an athlete.

You just stop training like one.

Competing still fills my cup.

It makes me better for everyone around me.

It’s my outlet.

My reset.

The thing that keeps me sharp.

I’m not chasing the NBA.

I’m chasing the version of me that gets to keep playing for as long as possible.

You can build a body that does what you want it to do.

Maybe not exactly like you were at eighteen.

But a long way past what most guys settle for.

Don’t accept the decline.

This is the exact protocol I’d follow if I was trying to get back into sport right now.

It’s also the protocol a lot of my clients are on.

What changes is the details. Where you’re at, your injuries, what you can handle, how many sessions a week.

That’s the difference between real coaching and a cookie cutter plan.

Here’s how we do it. First we test. We find out exactly where you’re at, then build a plan around your actual life.

Some of our guys have kids, some don’t. Some are younger, some older. All of that shapes the program.

Then we give you specific targets. Calories, protein, steps, whatever you need depending on your goal.

Then we track and hold you accountable. I can’t do the work for you.

But if you buy in the way you used to buy into your team back in the day, you will get results.

Whether you’re still playing or you’re a former athlete who’s out of shape and ready to get back to it, injuries and all, this is exactly who we help.

You don’t have a knowledge problem.

Most of the guys I work with already know what they should be doing.

Sleep more, drink more water, move more. None of that is new information to anyone.

The real issue is consistency. And a big part of that is stubbornness.

I see it in clients all the time, and I was exactly the same.

Didn’t want to spend money on something I thought I could figure out myself.

Here’s what actually happens when you try to go it alone.

You piece things together. Some weeks you train, some weeks you don’t.

Months pass and you’re either stuck or barely moving.

Structure and accountability close that gap.

It’s literally why I still pay a coach for my own programming, and I’m the one who writes programmes for a living.
