Tag Rugby is a 7 aside minimal contact version of Rugby in which each player wears shorts with Velcro patches with two tags attached to them. The mode of play is similar to Touch Rugby with attacking players attempting to dodge, evade and pass a rugby ball while defenders attempt to prevent them scoring by "tagging" - pulling a Velcro attached tag from the ball carrier. play is actively encouraged, the ball is allowed to touch the ground and some kicking is allowed. From the end of April 2015 we will be running mixed, men's and ladies weekday evening and weekend leagues across West Yorkshire. Additional locations in the rest of Yorkshire are planned to be added in the future. Tag Rugby is a fun, exciting game and a great way to keep fit! Its ideal even for those with busy lives, matches last 40 minutes, there’s no training and venues are conveniently located in accessible locations. Tagging instead of tackling makes it a game suitable for players of all shapes, size, speed and skill level. All standards are welcome whether you are a beginner or experienced player. If you haven't played before, please don't worry whether you will be any good, its an easy game to learn to play. Each of our venues will have a friendly competition supervisor to explain the rules. They will also be on hand each week to give tips and advice if wanted. You don’t need to have played Rugby before or to even have an interest in it in order to play Tag Rugby! Tag Rugby is a very social sport and a great way to spend time with existing friends and to meet new people. All our venues have an onsite bar or partner pub close by for players to have a drink and some food with their team mates and opposition after the games. We also organise regular social events and one day festivals with massive after parties throughout the year!
