πŸŒ‰ May Round-Up – 12 Bridges Challenge πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

May brought us some beautiful weather and some fantastic swims as our challengers continued their journey around the UK's bridges and beyond! β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ

Angela completed the Kessock Bridge and summed up her swim in one word: Happy πŸ’™

Suzi swam the Humber Bridge, enjoying the warmer water and even adding a second dip to clock up some extra metres this month πŸ‘

Judith chose the Kessock Bridge, enjoying a beautiful sunny swim after work, while Paula completed the Erskine Bridge.

Peter swam the Gosport Millennium Bridge and was feeling good afterwards – exactly what swimming should do for us 😊

Alice completed the Thelwall Viaduct, while Laura swam the Humber Bridge, pleased to finally see some sunshine accompanying her swim β˜€οΈ

Fuschia took on the impressive Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, and Jane completed the Prince of Wales Bridge, describing the conditions as a little choppy 🌊

Suzanne swam the Tay Bridge, while Ali completed the Bromford Viaduct. Ali also rounded off the month with a swim in the Irish Sea at Harlech, Wales – what a wonderful way to finish May! πŸ’™

What continues to shine through is how this challenge is about so much more than bridges. It's about motivation, confidence, friendship, getting back into the water after setbacks, and discovering what we're capable of achieving.

Whether your swim was in a pool, a lake, the sea, calm waters or choppy conditions, every swim counts and every bridge tells a story.

It's drowning prevention week.

We love open water swimming but always be cautious, even the most confident and experienced swimmer can get into difficulty.

The Water Safety Code:

* Stop and Think:
* Look for the dangers and always read safety signs.
* Stay Together: Never swim alone; always stay with friends or family.
* Call 999: Know exactly who to call in an emergency.
*Float: If you fall in, lean back, extend your arms and legs, and float until you can control your breathing.
* Emergency Response If you see someone else struggling in the water, remember Phone, Float, Throw:Phone: Dial 999 immediately.

Float: Tell the person to stay calm and float on their back.Throw: Toss them a piece of rescue equipment, a life ring, or anything that floats.

On Monday evening we spent an hour working with Liz on one simple goal...
"I want to be a smoother swimmer."

Sometimes it's not about swimming further or faster. It's about feeling more relaxed, moving more efficiently through the water, and finding that effortless rhythm that makes swimming such a joy.

After just one hour of coaching, the difference was clear to see. The video shows a swimmer who looks more balanced, more streamlined, and much more at ease in the water. Most importantly, Liz said she could feel the difference too.

Small changes to technique can make a huge difference to confidence, comfort and enjoyment in open water.
