Do you really go on a ride if you don’t take a picture of your bike leaning on a tree at least once???

Solid ride yesterday, but find I’m struggling for routes from home 😅

I got a new car but I’ve not got a bike rack for it yet and it’s a Toyota Aygo, so trying to fit my xl bike in there might prove tricky 😂

Still, I can’t moan, just happy to be riding 🙌🏼

Hello peeps, it’s been a while! Time for a little life update I think 😂

I have been super busy recently, I only managed to go out on my bike for the first time in nearly a month, it was that long the cranks had seized 😂

But in the meantime, the plans to travel have been put on hold, I’ve started a job that was a bit too good to turn down so Brenda, Arlo and I have moved into a house for the year to make life easier, a big sacrifice but one I think will be worthwhile 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

There’s a lot of studying for the qualifications of the job so that’s taking up a lot of time too, plus moving into a new house and just having a puppy like Arlo is exhausting, but with the days getting longer and weekends getting freer I’m hoping to get out much more! 🤩

I have been keeping my fitness up with some running which I’m finding really (strangely) fun at the minute, Brenda and I ran for a full 20 minutes the other day, the most I’ve ever ran in my life 🤯

It’s nice things are finally getting calmer and the dogs training is going really well, plus I took her out with the bike and she had a gentle run and wasn’t scared 😆

Final life update then, I’ve turned 24 today (I know, I’m getting old), and I’d hope for a birthday bike ride but like most days I don’t think I’ll have time 😂 I am looking forward to a nice meal out and some beers though! 🤩🥳

Well everyone… time to properly introduce Arlo! 🐶🐶🐶

She’s settling into home really well and most of the training is going really well, mostly! Toilet training could be going better 💩💩💩

A few more weeks until she’s allowed out, and hopefully some training to be done for her to come out on some trails with me 👀😆

There is a bike amongst all that mud on this photo 🤣

Winter is truly in effect right now, gone are the autumn leaves and now it’s just thick mud 😅

It got that bad that I had to push it, and even then the wheels jammed up with mud, meaning I was pushing it but it felt like the brakes were on 😂

Think I may leave the bridleways for now and aim for less muddy paths 🤣🤣🤣

Bit of a different weekend to the normal riding and fixing bikes 🛠🔧

Had a sticky calliper, COMPLETELY worn pads and discs that really needed changing

So satisfying to see clean and shiny parts after a complete rear brake overhaul 😍

Surprisingly, it all went really well, there was only one bolt that was a bit seized but nothing a breaker bar and hammer couldn’t sort 🤣

I do feel a little bit safer on the road now 😅

The smallest whip ever? 🤣🤣🤣

Getting airtime is one of those skills I really want to improve on this year, how some people make it look effortless is staggering to me 😅

That does involve having more time on the bike and eventually I’ll look into some coaching I think 🤔

But I find I’m really struggling for riding time at the minute working all the time, and where I have a few days off now, I’m stuck doing van repairs

HOPEFULLY, everything goes smoothly today and I’ll be out later today or if not, definitely tomorrow 🙌🏼

Happy New Year everyone! 🎉🍾

2021 was a year to remember for me, so much has happened it’ll be tough to remember it all 😂

I bought and converted a van, I graduated from uni, travelled Scotland and Wales and had a really good level of progression on my bike, even if I haven’t ridden at all recently... fitting cranks is job number 1 next year 🤣

Not too shabby considering Covid still being about!

I can’t wait to see what 2022 brings, I have a feeling it’ll be a corker 🙌🏼

Next year, I want even more time on my bike, targeting 1000 miles by this time next year 👀

My other resolutions if you will, are to enter into my first MTB race, which I’m hoping to do soon as well as getting some sort of mountain biking associated qualification, I’m not sure whether that’s guiding or outdoor first aid yet, but we shall see 🤔

Thank you to everyone for support this year, but especially to for being the best passenger anyone could ask for ❤️

Bring on 2022 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

So, time for the ultimate question...

Derailleur side showing at the front or hidden at the back? 🤔🤔🤔

Also for some reason I really love seeing a muddy bike next to graffiti, is that just me? 😅😂

So last ride out I took the opportunity to try out my GoPro mounted on my helmet and I think I quite like it!

Maybe not as much as it being chest mounted but I think the higher up angle means you get to see more of the trail 🤔

The only issue I think is when you don’t tighten up the bolt enough it can drop down and you end up seeing more of the helmet 😅😂

Enjoyed the part of Croft I did and felt like that berm was hit soooo nicely and then Jacob’s ladder never fails to let me down, though as it was an XC ride, my tires were up to 30psi which was a ‘little’ sketchy 😅😅😅

The really cool thing about mounting it on my helmet is that it has a built in mount which is sooo much better than those sticky pads that I worry won’t stay on 😂

If you’re in the market for a new lid, I totally recommend it, the built in GoPro mount also doubles as a light holder, with darker nights in full swing it’s ideal 🙌🏼

Plus the clever way it’s made with Koroyd means it protects your head in an accident while giving loads of ventilation

Time for a little (van) life update...

Yes, I’m still alive I’ve just been UNBELIEVABLY busy, we came back from Scotland and moved back home meaning we’re vanlifing part time at the minute, but that’s only temporary until we have enough saved up, which is a bit of a vanlife reality there 😅

Over the past few weeks I’ve had to do some repairs on the van, then in the same week, Brenda and I started our new jobs as parcel sorters at Hermes, not the most glamorous of jobs but it’ll help us save until we can go back to being in the van full time 😂

(Still, if anyone knows online work we’re still open to that 🤣)

Then I had a catch up weekend with some uni friends last week which was awesome but between all that, I’ve been too busy to do any riding but I got out yesterday for 4 hours and it was ACE! 🤩

Yes it was cold and muddy, but getting out for just under 30 miles was mega 🙌🏼

Lots of mud clogging up wheels and sideways rear whee action but mega nonetheless 😆

Going to the gym today for the first time in a very long time which I’m buzzed for then it’s another week of work, which I’m less buzzed for 🤣

Already looking forward to next weekend 😂😂😂

Soo... I finally managed to get a video of my run down Blue Doon at the Nevis Range - link is in my bio!!!🔗🔗🔗

Have to say it’s a wicked trail, as the longest lift assisted blue in the UK, it felt mega! And I have to say, for a blue, it kept me on my toes 😂

So quick yet so technical too, very bumpy and rocky all the way down! Which meant I had to take breaks on the descent, for the first time ever I think, felt intense on my legs and arms after some time 😅

Perhaps one of the only times the ascent took as long as the descent - thankfully that was carried out by the gondola 😂😂😂

Anyway, the video is now live, settle in, grab a cup of tea (or beer), and enjoy the sounds of the trail! No music, no DNB, no commentary, just pure biking 😍
