‼️Please read:

We have had to attend several outbreaks of strangles in both Devon and Cornwall these past 2 weeks. Incredibly sadly one of our patients has died as a consequence of a very nasty version of the Strep equi infection.

Please use this as a reminder to be very cautious about biosecurity, to isolate new horses coming into your yard and to consider vaccinating your horses.

Strangles is a preventable disease.
The Strangvac vaccine is incredibly effective at preventing infection and transmission. The strep equi bacteria is easily killed by simple detergents.

Wash hands, wash buckets, don’t allow nose to nose contact with unknown horses. Let’s rally around to prevent further suffering and further yard shut downs.
