⛳ Kiln Captain’s Day at the ’Dhu

A cracking day at Cairndhu yesterday for Moorland Holmes’ Kiln Captain’s Day, with 59 players taking part and plenty of good golf, laughs and craic along the way.

Congratulations to Ronnie Tweed, who took top honours with 38 points, edging out Alan Rea and Uel Brown, also on 38. Cathy Keown topped the Ladies, Jim Campbell produced the score of the day with an impressive 40 points to win the Visitors’ prize, while Robert Wilson claimed the 9-hole competition.

Things carried on into the evening with the now almost legendary Cairndhu Karaoke 🎤. Big Rodney, Gail, Club Vice Captain John, President Brian and plenty of others all got involved. There was definitely plenty of enthusiasm…with all the right notes being sung, just not necessarily in the right order!!! 🙉

Thanks as always to the bar and catering staff for keeping everyone fed and watered throughout a busy day. 🍻

Finally, a big well done from everyone in the Kiln Society to Cairndhu’s victorious Holt Shield Team and Team Captain John Hicks on reaching the final. Best of luck against Ballyclare GC — bring it home lads! 🏆⛳

💙💛 HOLT SHIELD – WHAT A COMEBACK! 💙💛

What a performance from the Cairndhu Holt Shield team on Sunday! 👏

Trailing 4–1 from the away leg, the boys knew they needed something special back at Cairndhu — and special is exactly what they produced. A stunning 5–0 home victory completed a remarkable turnaround and booked Cairndhu’s place in the Holt Shield Final! 🏆🔥

Club Professional Wayne Telford summed it up perfectly, praising the team for “rolling the sleeves up” and showing exactly what they’re made of, while Team Captain John Hicks was quick to thank everyone who came out to support the boys, along with Club Captain Stephen Aiken, who has been there supporting the team throughout last season and this one.

A brilliant team effort, fantastic support and another memorable day at the ’Dhu.

President’s Ladies Day got the celebrations underway in style as Cairndhu began the build-up to President Brian “Hector” Houston’s big day.

The ladies took centre stage for what was a fantastic day of golf, friendship and plenty of the famous Cairndhu craic!!! Hec was delighted to welcome everyone and with a great turnout and a brilliant atmosphere around the club, it was the perfect way to start what promises to be a very special weekend for our President.

Congratulations to all of the prize winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who played their part in making President’s Ladies Day such an enjoyable occasion.

One celebration down…but we’re only getting started!
Tomorrow the attention turns to Hector’s President’s Day, when we do it all over again.

The stage is set, the celebrations have begun! Time to get the party started!!! 🥳

President's Day is almost here, and it's shaping up to be one of the highlights of the Cairndhu calendar!

Whether you're playing, supporting from the clubhouse or simply coming along to soak up the atmosphere, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Cairndhu Golf Club is looking forward to welcoming some new faces to the course for our Ladies Golf Taster Day on Friday 21st August.

Under the guidance of our Club Professional Wayne Telford, the evening is all about giving golf a go in a friendly, relaxed and fun environment.

Whether you've never held a golf club before or simply fancy trying something new, everyone is welcome — no experience is needed and all equipment will be provided.

It’s also a great opportunity to meet other like-minded women, enjoy a few laughs and discover just how enjoyable golf can be.

So come along, have a swing, enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Cairndhu and see if golf might just be your new favourite pastime! 🏌️‍♀️⛳

⛳️Holt Shield Quarter-Final Victory for the 'Dhu⛳️

Cairndhu Golf Club are through to the semi-final of the Holt Shield after a fantastic 7–5 aggregate victory over Shandon Park Golf Club in a hard-fought two-legged quarter-final.

With everything still to play for going into Sunday’s deciding leg, the Cairndhu team knew they would need to produce their best golf against a strong Shandon Park side. As expected, the matches were closely contested, with both teams battling for every hole and the overall result hanging in the balance.

In the end, it was Dave “BamBam” Baxter who had the honour of securing the winning match, getting Cairndhu over the line and sparking the celebrations among his teammates and supporters.

The 7–5 victory was a tremendous team effort across both legs, with every point and every match proving important in securing Cairndhu’s place in the last four.
Cairndhu now progress to the Holt Shield semi-final, where they will face Fortwilliam Golf Club for a place in the final.

Congratulations to Team Captain John Hicks and to all the players involved, and a big thank you to everyone who came along to support the team.

Well done lads — another great result for the ’Dhu! ⛳👏

⛳️Pro's Day at Cairndhu⛳️

Another brilliant day at the ’Dhu as a fantastic turnout of members came along to support our Club Professional, Wayne Telford, on his Pro’s Day.

A massive thank you to Wayne and his team for all the work they put in before and during the day. The tremendous turnout was a fitting reflection of the support and appreciation our members have for Wayne and everything he does for Cairndhu throughout the year.

Congratulations to all of the prize winners who managed to produce the goods when it mattered.
There were plenty of smiles at the presentation and, judging by the prizes on display, Wayne certainly made sure nobody went home disappointed.

Congratulations everyone — a cracking Pro’s Day at the ’Dhu! 🏌️‍♂️🏆🍻

🌸⛳️Ladies' Captain's Day 2026⛳️🌸

What a fantastic day it was at Cairndhu as Lady Captain Karen Lilley hosted a memorable Ladies' Captain's Day. Blessed with great company, plenty of laughter, and a wonderful atmosphere from start to finish, everyone who attended helped make the occasion a real success.

The course was presented beautifully, providing the perfect setting for some excellent golf, while the Gents' 9-Hole Competition added to the day's enjoyment. As the golf came to an end, members and guests gathered to celebrate with live music, good food, and great craic, rounding off a truly special day.

A huge thank you goes to Karen for all her hard work and dedication, to the greenkeeping staff for preparing the course so magnificently, the clubhouse and bar staff for their outstanding hospitality, the Club Professional Wayne Telford and his team, the volunteers who worked behind the scenes, and to every member and visitor who came along to support the day.

Congratulations to all of the prize winners, and thank you to everyone who helped make Lady Captain's Day 2026 one to remember.

Here's to many more wonderful days at the Gateway to the Nine Glen's!
