Larne High School Sports Academy

Larne High School Sports Academy A school based Sports Academy at which students can achieve a BTEC Extended Diploma in Sports Studies alongside training as full time athletes.

Larne High School in collaboration with LLS offer a multi sports academy. On offer is a school based Sports Academy at which students/athletes will gain a BTEC Extended Diploma in Sports Studies (equivalent to 3 A levels) in addition to completing a number of coaching badges, gaining coaching experience in local primary schools and completing a strength and conditioning programme specific to the individuals chosen sport. Members of the academy will have the opportunity to be involved with exchange programmes across the globe via LLS including coaching pathways to USA, Qatar, Spain and other countries across Europe.

What an amazing summer for Year 14 students Poppy and Lewis! 🇺🇸 ⚽️

They’ve now been in New York for 7 weeks, coaching, learning and gaining incredible experience, with just 3 weeks left!

It’s been an unforgettable opportunity, full of new experiences, challenges and memories that they’ll take with them long after they return home.

So proud of how they’ve embraced every minute of it. What an experience! 🗽✨

Alistair has had an amazing first 8 weeks in America. Coaching at carious summer camps as well as taking in some of the amazing sights and attractions across various states 🇺🇸

Year 14 Sports Studies students received their certificates and coaching badges from the excellent IFA Education and Employability programme which they completed this year. 📈

In addition, they were treated to a tour of the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park.

Our Year 13 Sports Academy students have had an unforgettable week in Alicante, Spain 🇪🇸☀️

From developing their coaching skills in local Spanish schools and working with enthusiastic young athletes, to embracing the culture and exploring the beautiful city of Alicante, what an experience for our students!

Students stepped out of their comfort zones, delivering sessions to Spanish speaking students, they tried new sports like padel, built meaningful connections, and enjoyed some well earned relaxation by the beach 🏖️

Most importantly, they’ve created memories for life while growing as individuals both on and off the field.

A week of sport, culture, and personal development, one they won’t forget anytime soon! 💫 📈

🌟 Congratulations Lewis and Poppy 🌟

Well done to Year 14 Sports Academy students Lewis and Poppy who recently received awards at the Sports Inspire NI awards event. Both students received certificates to mark 200 hours of volunteering through coaching roles.

Huge achievement for Year 14 Sports Academy student Ellis! 👏🏉

Ellis was selected to represent LLS Select at the prestigious Rosslyn 7’s tournament in London. Ellis met up with his new teammates from all across England on Sunday evening and was straight into action on Monday.

Facing tough opposition across 3 matches, the team secured 1 win, with Ellis making a big impact:
🔥 Scored a fantastic try
🎯 Delivered several key assists

To top it all off, Ellis was awarded LLS Player of the Tournament!! An outstanding recognition of performance and attitude.
