A great listen. No more barriers to having fun through football.

The new episode of Women’s Football Hub is out now.
Today I’m joined by Carol Bates, founder of Old Girls Play Too, whose work has helped thousands of women find confidence, fitness, friendship and joy through recreational football.
In this episode we cover:

How she created the UK’s first football sessions for older women.
Why fun, belonging and confidence matter more than sporting ability.
Evidence showing football improves bone density and supports women through perimenopause and menopause.
Inspiring stories of women who found new purpose, strength and friendships in their 50s, 60s and 70s.
How older women can take their first step into sport, even if they’ve never kicked a ball before.

Celebrating World Autism Awareness Day.

World Autism Awareness Day 2025 is on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The United Nations General Assembly designated 2 April of every year to observe as World Autism Awareness Day by the resolution A/RES/62/139 in 2008. Autism Awareness week is from 28 March to 3 April 2025.
Stenhousemuir FC Community Development Officer, Kenny McLean and Community Football Coordinator, Linsey Paton-Donaldson, joined other representatives of SPFL Clubs at Hampden Park for an Autism Awareness presentation.
Stenhousemuir FC has always been regarded as a welcoming club and to this end the Community Foundation has taken receipt of a sensory pack to ensure that there is support available at Ochilview and that those with a neurodivergence can enjoy the football safely.
If anyone attending match day at Ochilview wishes to use the sensory pack then please email [email protected] to arrange collection on arrival.

The attached video depicts ‘The Journey’ to a football match for one autistic child, Jack. What might be a simple journey for some, can be challenging for an autistic person.
