⚽️ WHAT A WEEKEND 🔵⚪️

Almost the whole club was out on the pitch this weekend as our youth teams kicked off their 2026/27 season! 🙌

From our brand-new 3v3 teams right through to the Firsts, we had the full spectrum of what grassroots football is all about — players learning, developing, competing, supporting each other and, most importantly, enjoying the game. 💙

Every single player who pulled on the shirt this weekend did the club proud. 👏

🔵 SEPTEMBER FIXTURES 🔵

After a positive start to the campaign, we begin September away to Dalton United before two cup games in the Richardson Cup and Lancashire Amateur Shield. Then we welcome early pace setters Trawden Celtic FC to York Road to round the month off.

The Reserve team have three home games in a row starting with Thornton Cleveleys ‘A’. The month ends with trip to Hindley Green in the Lancashire Amateur Cup.

The ‘A’ team start September with a short journey to promotion hopefuls NJC FC and then have three weeks of cup fixtures starting with the Peter Daws Memorial Shield and finishing the month travelling to Burneside in the Junior Challenge Cup.

MATCH REPORT GROUNDHOP DAY
🔵 STOREYS 7-0 HAWCOAT PARK 🟣

MOTM - Joel Creech

A dominative display sees Storeys batter Hawcoat Park as Joel Creech bags a hat trick whilst Cameron Hollywood and Isaac Featon score two.

Storeys dominated possession in the opening 10 minutes and came close as a firing ball across the face of goal by Ryan Yates was just out of reach of the on-sliding Josh Cunningham.

Hollywood broke the deadlock five minutes later as a weaving run gave him space to shoot from outside the box and fire Storeys into a one goal lead.

Less than 10 minutes later it was two for Storeys and two for Hollywood. Dom Hoyle swung in a corner kick which was initially cleared off the line by Max Mitchell, but Tim Last did well to maintain his side possession as the ball fell to Hollywood, who curled the ball into the top right-hand corner!

Hawcoat Park found their feet and registered their first chance of the game when Max Winder's effort went wide of the post.

Storeys made it three on 41 minutes; Liam Jackson played the ball out wide for Hollywood as a turn of pace took him past Mitchell before squaring it to Creech who made no mistake from close range.

Two minutes later it was 4-0. A floated delivery from his own half by Creech found Isaac Featon to run through on goal to strike pass a helpless Harry Copeland.

HALF-TIME STOREYS 4-0 HAWCOAT PARK

The rain was getting heavier as the goals were leaking in. Yates crossed the ball in from the left-hand side and Featon superbly slid between two defenders to latch on the end to make it 5-0!

Dan Scott was called into action and did well to maintain his clean sheet as he came rushing out to deny Mitchell to turn the ball away for a corner.

With 25 minutes to play it was so close to being one of the best goals scored at York Road. Hoyle lofted a free kick into the box which found the head of Featon to knock it to Jack Baxter Ireland who attempted an audacious scorpion kick five yards out but went wide of the target.

Yates was provider for the sixth as he crossed the ball into the box which fell to Creech who hit it first time past Copeland.

Five minutes to go and Creech secured his hat trick as he lurked at the back post from a corner to fire on the volley into the back of the net!
