💛🖤 MAN OF THE MATCH | MAX WATSON 🖤💛

A brilliant performance from Max on Sunday, who was asked to step into a completely new role at right-back — and showed everyone just how versatile he can be.

Max put in one of his best performances for the team, winning virtually every duel he was involved in, defending with real confidence and showing great composure when playing out from the back.

Even when tired legs started to affect us late in the game, none of the late goals came down Max’s side, which says a lot about how well he handled his job.

What impressed us just as much was his attitude. He stayed positive throughout, encouraged the players around him and gave everything for the team from the first whistle to the last.

Playing out of position isn’t always easy, but Max embraced the challenge and showed exactly what he’s capable of. 👏🐝

💛🖤 PROUD DESPITE THE SCORELINE 🖤💛

The final score says 5–1, but anyone who watched the game will know that it doesn’t reflect how competitive this match actually was.

We went into today with a clear game plan against a very strong Bowerham Blacks side — stay compact, keep our lines disciplined, defend together and make ourselves difficult to break down. The team executed it brilliantly for the vast majority of the game.

At 1–1 we hit the post, and in the second half we had two huge one-on-one opportunities to take the lead.

With just 15 minutes remaining it was still 1–1. Bowerham then scored an excellent header to make it 2–1, but even after that we created two fantastic chances to equalise.

Unfortunately, with no substitutes available, the work rate eventually took its toll. Tired legs kicked in during the final eight minutes and Bowerham took advantage.

But today isn’t about focusing on a 5–1 scoreline.

It’s about the organisation, discipline, effort and commitment the team showed. There were some excellent individual performances and, most importantly, we showed that we can compete against quality opposition when everyone buys into the plan.

⭐ MOTM — MAX

Playing right-back for the first time, Max was outstanding. He won virtually every duel, defended brilliantly, played out from the back with confidence and none of the goals came down his side. A fantastic performance. 👏

We came away disappointed with the result, but incredibly proud of the performance.

We take the positives, keep building and move onto next week where the objective is clear — go after those three points. 💪🐝

💛🖤 NEXT UP | BOWERHAM BLACKS AWAY 🖤💛

Tomorrow we face what we know will be one of our toughest tests of the season as we travel to Bowerham Blacks.

It’s going to be made even tougher with limited availability and some key players missing, but there are no excuses. The players who pull on the Marsh shirt tomorrow will go out there, work for each other and give absolutely everything they have. 🐝

We know the quality Bowerham have and we know there will be periods where we’ll have to dig deep, stay disciplined and defend together. The challenge is to stay focused, compete for every ball and take our opportunities when they come.

These are the games that test your character. Nobody expects it to be easy, but we’ll go there together, give it our all and see where it takes us.

💛🖤 NEW SIGNING | WILL GRAHAM ✍️ 🖤💛

We’re delighted to welcome Will Graham to Marsh United U14s!

Will is genuinely one of the most liked players around local grassroots football. He brings great energy, excellent technical ability and, most importantly, a fantastic attitude every time he steps onto the pitch.

He’s also someone our players and coaching team already know really well, so we know exactly what he’ll bring to the group. He works hard, plays with a smile on his face and is the type of character every team wants around.

We have absolutely no doubt Will will be a fantastic addition to our squad, both on and off the pitch, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in the yellow and black! 💛🖤

We’re looking to add three players to our squad for the 2026/27 season as we strengthen the group for the campaign ahead.

🧤 1 Goalkeeper
⚽ 2 Outfield Players – all positions considered

We compete in the top local division, and with the league becoming even stronger this season, we’re looking for players who want to come in, compete, develop and become an important part of the team.

We’re particularly interested in players who may already play Saturday football but are looking for a competitive Sunday team, or anyone who fancies a new challenge.

💛🖤 FULL TIME | MARSH UNITED 1–5 KENDAL UNITED 🖤💛

A tough start to the season for us today and one we’ll have to learn from quickly.

We took the lead midway through the first half and for spells looked comfortable, but Kendal found their equaliser just before half-time and that shifted the momentum of the game going into the break.

Unfortunately, in the second half we were second best to too many balls and too many challenges. We gave away four sloppy goals, struggled to find our usual football and rhythm, and Kendal punished virtually every opportunity we gave them.

With only one substitute available, tired legs started to show and we simply didn’t have the answers today.

We know this is going to be a very competitive season, and today highlighted that we need to get a few more players through the door as soon as possible to give us the squad depth needed to compete week in, week out.

But there’s no hiding from a result. We take it, learn from it, dust ourselves off and go again next week. There’s a long season ahead. 💪🐝

Congratulations to Kendal United. In the second half they were the better team, wanted it more and deserved their victory. We wish them all the best for the season ahead. 🤝

💛🖤 MATCH DAY | THE SEASON STARTS HERE! 🖤💛

After a long pre-season, plenty of hard work, new players joining the group and lots of preparation, tomorrow the 2026/27 league season finally gets underway. 🐝⚽

Our first test sees us welcome Kendal United U14s to Willow Lane.

We competed in the top division last season, but this year the league has grown with a number of new teams coming in, making it bigger, stronger and even more competitive.

That’s exactly what we want. More challenges, more competitive games and more opportunities for this group to develop and show what they can do.

Pre-season is finished now. Everything resets and the real work begins tomorrow.

Play with confidence, compete for each other, enjoy the football and whatever happens, do it together. 💛🖤

💛🖤 OUR CAPTAIN | LUCAS HODGSON 🖤💛

We’re proud to announce Lucas Hodgson as our Marsh United U14s Captain for the 2026/27 season. 🐝

Since day one, Lucas has given us 100%. His attitude has been first class, he constantly tries to lift the players around him and, most importantly, he has shown that he will always put the team before himself.

Throughout pre-season we’ve asked Lucas to take on different roles and play in multiple positions — he’s even stepped into goal when the team needed him — and every single time he’s just got on with it and given everything he has.

That’s exactly the mentality we want from our captain.

The armband isn’t about being the loudest player or the best player on the pitch. It’s about setting standards, leading by example, supporting your teammates and putting the badge and the team first.

Lucas has shown us those qualities consistently and has earned the responsibility of leading this group into the new season.

A big season ahead and a big opportunity for Lucas to continue developing as both a player and a leader.

🟡⚫ OUR VICE CAPTAIN | JAKE SANTANA ⚫🟡

We’re delighted to announce Jake Santana as our Vice Captain for the 2026/27 season. 🐝

Throughout pre-season, Jake has shown us exactly the type of attitude we want within this team.

He’s always team first. We’ve asked him to play in multiple positions and different roles and he’s done it without hesitation. He encourages his teammates, brings positive energy to the group and, most importantly, his attitude has remained consistent regardless of what we’ve asked him to do.

Over the last few months we’ve also seen his confidence really start to grow, both on and off the pitch, and his recent performances have shown what he’s capable of.

Being a leader isn’t just about wearing an armband. It’s about your attitude, your standards and what you’re prepared to do for the people around you.

Jake has earned this opportunity and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue developing and growing into the role.
