Look who dropped in to class today! Jayden (centre back) is on his work experience at his old school and decided to say hi and join in a little. It was so great to see him and catch up with what he's been up to. He has got so big! It was lovely to see you Jayden! Don't be a stranger. You're always welcome to visit again.

Quick shout out to Ella and Chris C who attended the HDKI GB squad training today. Word on the grapevine has it that it was quite challenging today, so well done both for stepping up and putting yourself out there. Gambatte 💪🥋🥊

Friday night at St. Chad's👊
Beginners class sharpened the fundamentals — building biomechanical stability through stance transitions, grading prep, crisp kihon, Heian Shodan & Nidan kata, plus focused gohon kumite work. We also did some pad work and agility drills. Busy Busy

Competition squad followed with high-energy jyu kumite drills using pool noodles for speed, timing & distancing, then refined kata presentation and performance under pressure.

Strong effort all round — technique, control, and confidence growing every week 🔥🥋

SSPAK working on kihon and kata with a parricular focus on stance transitions. All still a work in progress and we still have a ways to go before they're ready to grade. 1-2 gradings a year cuts them some slack to do this though, so no rush. Take your time and enjoy the process. Gambatte kudosai! 🥋

Wednesday night’s advanced class pushed limits with tube training 🔥

Big respect to Donald a Shukukai student from Lancaster Uni and Alanna, one of our 8th kyu students - both stepped outside their comfort zones and throwing themselves into instructors' class. Both got picked on A LOT and both rose to the challenge, and both went above and beyond.

Different journeys. Different goals. Same mindset: show up, work hard, grow. Proud of them both 👊

🥋 Hadashi Senshi Dō Karate – Warrior of the Week Nominations 🥋
One of the goals behind introducing our Warrior of the Week system is to recognise not just talent, but also effort, spirit, improvement, leadership, consistency, and contribution to the dojo community.

Every nomination matters and all nominations will contribute toward future Student of the Month and ultimately Warrior of the Year recognition.

This week’s nominations were:
⭐ Locryn – for excellent spirit and attitude. Always willing to put himself forward and often the first to volunteer.
⭐ Rex – for outstanding effort and commitment. Training twice a week, attending competition sessions, showing constant improvement, and taking feedback extremely well.
⭐ Harry – for effort and technical improvement. He consistently strives to improve and that hard work is clearly paying off.
⭐ Ashley – for peer mentorship, leadership, effort, and spirit. Always demonstrates an excellent attitude and pushes himself beyond expectations, setting a great example for others.
⭐ Mark – for being a constant and quietly important part of the dojo community. As our longest-serving member, Mark contributes hugely to the atmosphere and culture of the dojo. He trains consistently, assists willingly, takes feedback well, and continually works to improve his karate. Though quiet by nature and seldom seeking attention, he is valued beyond measure.
Well done to all of you 👏
Your effort and contribution to Hadashi Senshi Dō does not go unnoticed.
