It was lovely to be out tonight helping Rhys McGrath and his lovely mare Ginny with their flatwork .
At 19 years old , Ginny is a “lady of a certain vintage” but I think you’ll agree she looks great !
Ginny and Rhys have built a wonderful partnership and enjoy lots of hacks around the beautiful Chatelheraut which helps maintain her basic level of fitness and is so good mentally for her .
Tonight we worked on some suppleing exercises for both of them .
Rhys - for his hips , we are working towards a better hip heel alignment, with the goal being a more balanced position and an independent seat, so lots of standing up ,finding balance with feet under centre (your centre is between belly button and spine )
Ginny - a little leg yielding to improve her lateral suppleness whilst prioritising keeping her responsive to the forward leg aids .
I like to video some parts of lessons , it’s a really useful tool,as sometimes things feel totally different to how they look !
So Rhys has a few short videos from tonight s session to help with his learning
It’s also very useful to track progression .
Well done Rhys , some really good work tonight 👏👏👏
