This post is about the importance of wearing a helmet, and not to seek sympathy.
Last night I hit a pothole and came off my bike.
The helmet took the impact, and I was so glad I had it on, or it would have been my head which took the road.
The images don’t do the damage justice, but the impact site is compressed compared to the other side.
It certainly saved a bigger injury, or worse.
So everyone please, please ensure you never go on your bike without one.
Parents, please show this to your children.

There are some clothing items and helmets in the shop, are taking up space.
These are on sale to clear.
Helmets start at £5, with a mix of brands from Raleigh, Met etc.
There are Macron jackets, tops and polo shirts starting at £4.
Precision children’s base layers are £4.
These are massive savings on retail price.

Today marks the return of our village clean-up. Come along to Colliers court between 11am and 2pm. Grab yourself a hot drink and some delicious food from Douglas Bakery before taking to our streets to help rid them of litter. We might not be able to change the world but we can help make a massive difference to our wee part of the world.
Litter pickers and personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.

Tyres, wheels, mudguards, bars, helmet and shoes, all pictured are all free on a first come, first served basis.
The tyres are all new, apart from one or two, which are too good to put in the recycling.
These are taking up space, and I want them away.
These will be here for a week or so, then they will be put in the recycling.
If any are of interest, please pop in and take them away.

Good morning, and that is the opening day of Gig in the Grounds complete.
What a great evening.
Just a wee reminder, the shop is closing early today (1st Aug) at 2pm.
If you want a great couple of days entertainment, pop down to the castle grounds for Gig in the Grounds.

I will be behind the drums with Midtown Riot on Friday evening, then with The Syxx on Saturday evening, and then in the Douglasdale Players band on the Sunday afternoon.

There is a lot going on in Douglas this week, and particularly Gig in the Grounds over the weekend.
As a result, the opening hours this week are:
Wednesday - 9.30am to 1.15pm
Thursday - 9.30am to 3.30pm
Friday - 9.30am to 3.30pm
Saturday - 9.30am to 2pm
Sunday - 10am - 1pm.
