Sam Williams of Cookie Jar Golf teeing off in glorious sunshine at Lamlash this morning, Tue 9 Jun 26.

The group, accompanied by local golfer Greg McCrae, were attempting a challenge to play all 95 holes on Arran in aid of ArCaS.

Cookie Jar Golf is a popular British golf media brand, podcast and content production company created by a group of passionate golfing friends. They were afforded a courtesy round on all the island courses they played.

The Cookie Jar Golf group are planning to play every hole on Arran on Tue 9 June in aid of ARCAS. They will be accompanied by local golfer Greg McCrae & it’s anticipated their tee off time at Lamlash will be 07:45.

Their content team will lap the island the night before/morning after to get the best possible footage of each course, so just a heads up on this in case they catch you off guard. Chances are they’ll be so subtle you won’t even notice they’re there, but it’s important for them to capture the courses in the best light to make golf on the island as attractive as possible.

In two weeks’ time, we’ll be in full recovery mode, having hopefully just completed this year’s Longest Day Challenge.

Last year we attempted 99 holes at Durness, so this year we are going one step further: playing every hole on the Isle of Arran in a single day - starting at Whiting Bay and finishing at Shiskine.

We’ll be joined by locals Greg and Ian, who will be keeping us on track as we raise money for an extremely worthy cause, and one especially close to the island: Arran Cancer Support

The Gents Medal on Thursday 27th May featured an additional event, to be held annually on the last Thursday in May, sponsored by Graeme Andrew in memory of John O’Sullivan who died suddenly last year.

Sully was a member of the club for around 50 years, an excellent golfer in his prime, he battled Parkinson’s disease, refusing to give in to it, he continued to play the game he loved. His bonhomie and very dry sense of humour is well recalled and sadly missed.

There were gifts for all competitors with the winner receiving a special prize donated by Graeme. The award of the inaugural John O’Sullivan Daffodil Trophy to the best Lamlash GC member on the day was won by Hugh McLelland.
