It is with a heavy heart I have to bow out of running bootcamp for the foreseeable future.

Lakenheath pavilion fields has been our host for the last 5 years, we started small and have built a community I am proud of. A community I consider family, a community who has weathered many challenges and come together with strength and laughter. Some have been with me from the start, others have only just started their journey, but you are all important to me and I will miss our sessions together.

PT has continued to grow and I look forward to renewed challenges and continuing to love all things movement.

As I have always been, to those who have walked this path with me for so many years, I am here if you need me, this is not goodbye. 🤝💚

As time goes on progress naturally slows. This leads to a few things. Most commonly I see people give up as they don’t think they’re getting better, or try and push on and get injured, we all know a runner who tries to hit a PB every run.

As initial progress slows it’s important therefore to continue to have a focus on things you can continue to improve, which will later compliment your initial goal.

This mindset means we continue to strive for growth, whilst understanding progress can come in many forms. So if you’re a runner perhaps practising strength training may help build your running resilience and keep you engaged with the activity.

What do you do to maintain you’re long term goals as progress starts to slow?

Looking at short term fixes may seem like a good plan, and to start with, like this bucket, when we’re reacting quickly to changing situations it is necessary.

But how long is that short term fix going to last? At some point we need to address the issue, and that can take time and effort, but if you ignore it your going to be left with no option but to react again when the bucket overflows.

Exercise and nutrition is no different and the solution isn’t always to start going to the gym. The reason you keep falling off the wagon is because you haven’t dealt with the lifestyle issues that stopped your consistency last time.

So start writing down your barriers, start actually resolving them for long term happiness instead of just patching the leak with a bucket 💚

Having a very restrictive diet in your effort to shed the pounds can be really effective, for a very limited time!

Being restrictive for a week or 2 at the start of a weight loss phase can lead to a good start to your plan. But, what are you going to do after that?? When the realisation is that you can’t continue to live like this forever, a few shakes a day, living on tiny portions of food, feeling hungry all the time and lacking energy?

It’s important therefore that you look longer term, to a more realistic eating pattern while still striving towards your goals. This is where lifestyle changes are needed, education about portion control and food selection becomes important.

Want more help with this so you don’t become just another yo-yo dieter, find me Inspire Gym or contact me directly 💚

Strapped for time at the gym? This may help! Short and intense, while still focussing on resistance work.

Myo reps allow you to lift a moderate load (40-60% 1rm) but push you to failure early on due to their short rest periods, eliminating junk volume and optimising effective reps and most importantly, time!

Pick your movement (remembering you’re going to failure so pick safe options if needed). Pay attention to form and hit 15-30 reps (to failure). Take a short break and then hit it again aiming for 25% of the reps you hit in set 1. As soon as you can’t hit the reps you’re done and can move onto the next exercise.

Smashing 6movements is quick and easily done in 30minutes and you can move on with your day!

We place a lot of value of external assets, our house, car, having money, holidays and the latest trend whatever that looks like to you.

But, if you want to see change, you need to start valuing yourself. Not only will this help your mindset, but it will help make choices easier to make, especially around nutrition and fitness. Value your health and it makes the choice to have another takeaway an easier one to make.

By keeping things like gratitude journals, looking at the small wins, the positives about yourself that you like instead of the things you don’t you’ll soon start to see the value in yourself.

Get in touch if you’re ready to start valuing yourself and see the fitness and nutrition goals come to fruition 💚

It’s been a hot one this week and with more hot weather in the coming months it can be tempting to smash out hard workouts in an effort to lose more weight, similar to wearing sweat vests.

However sweating is not an indicator of intensity, and losing too much water will have a detrimental effect on performance and therefore will more likely have the opposite effect to what you want.

So be sensible, unless you’re cutting to make a weight category (not exactly healthy, but this is sport) you’re better off drinking plenty, replacing electrolytes and wearing cool clothes to hit workouts with appropriate intensity and maintain progress

Sometimes we look at others and see their success and think they have made it overnight. Rarely is this the case. what they have done is have an overnight success with 5-10yrs in the making.

What they’ve done is make marginal gains every day, tried to be a little better today than they were yesterday.

If you can dial in this mindset, get 1% better every day, results will follow.

Need help getting your nutrition and fitness dialed in, contact me Inspire Gym or direct message me 💚

If you have a weight loss goal and you’re not tracking your food intake, at least short term, then you could be leaving things to chance.

A food diary is data, data that will help educate you about how much food you require, what foods you are consuming that may not be optimal and where you may be over-consuming during the day/week.

If you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of apps around such as my myfitnesspal, that can help you or get in touch with me at Inspire Gym 💚
