🏆 ⭐️ Last Friday it was the turn of the P5-under players to shine in our annual indoor competitions for the Jenny MacKenzie Shields.
A fantastic turnout of 11 teams made for a fantastic night of competition in Kyleakin Hall.
Unbeaten South Skye Eagles followed by North End made it through from section 1 (very impressive Applecross just losing out on goal difference) while BSGP Colmcille & Portreee Primary took top two places in section 2, (with goal-difference just going against a very good Lochcarron team).
It was BSGP Colmcille & Portree Primary who met in the final, with BSGP producing a clinical display of finishing to retain the Shield they won last year. On the night they won all six of their matches and were very worthy winners.
There was plenty for all the other teams to be encouraged about too with Glenduich, BSGP ACB, South Skye Vikings and two teams from Plockton all contributing to a great night.
Our player of the tournament was Portree Primary's excellent goalkeeper, Cameron McGilvary.
It was great to see such a geographic spread of players, so many thanks goes to all coaches and parents for their efforts.
Big thanks as always to Ina F and helpers in the kitchen (Karen, Maddie, Vicky) to Dan Campbell for reffing, Johnny for time & score keeping & Jenny MacKenzie herself, there to hand over the prizes 🏆🏒👍

⭐️Jenny MacKenzie Shield, P7-under

Our indoor tournament season got underway with a great night of shinty last night.
10 P7-under teams from Skye and South West Ross competed for the annual Jenny MacKenzie Shield in Kyleakin.
The Bun Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh Runrig side were winners on the night, a late goal securing a 2-1 victory against North End A in a closely-fought final.
South Skye Eagles and BSGP Colmcille made the semi finals after each coming through the group stages unbeaten after three wins and a draw.
In the group stages Auchtertyre, Glenduich, Lochcarron, Portree Primary A, Portree Primary B and North End B all contributed to a really encouraging evening for local shinty. No team lost all their matches.
The player of the night award went to North End's excellent goalkeeper, Reuben MacDonald.
Big thanks to Ina Finlayson, Vicky Nisbett and others who baked and served food as well as to all the coaches and volunteers who helped out in various ways; to Kyleakin Hall for the venue; to young referees Mairi Finlayson and Daniel Campbell and Johnny MacKenzie for keeping scores and times.

Jenny MacKenzie was there herself to help and hand over the prizes at the end of the night. 👍👏👍🏒
Competitions for P5-under and P1-3 to follow in the coming weeks.

📷 🌟Just a few pics from the 24-25 season - it was busy, successful and lots of fun.
In all South Skye participated in 14 different tournaments across various age groups, fielding two teams in almost all of them and giving competitive opportunities to nearly 40 players from P1-P7.
A great effort all round! Thanks to all who help and a huge well done to all the fantastic young people for their efforts and dedication. 👏🏾💫👊

The club is always on the look out for new players from the area as well as helpers and coaches. Please get in touch if you would like to get involved. 🏒👍

⭐️NEW KITS⭐️
At our last training session before the holidays we were delighted to welcome Scott Slawinski from Vónin Scotland for the official handover of our smart new team kit and training gear.
The kit has been bought following a very generous sponorship donation from the company, which is currently building a new net-washing station just outside Kyleakin.
Also there was Skye Camanachd honorary vice president Jenny MacKenzie in recognition of a very generous recent donation to our club from Skye Camanachd. This will be put to good use for equipment and running costs as we continue to support shinty opportunities for the youngsters of South Skye.

🌲🎅 Thanks to them and all others who have supported us this year, including kit suppliers 3Q Sports for their excellent service. Have a very Merry Christmas!

⭐️ In the last fortnight we've hosted Jenny MacKenzie Shield competitions for P5-under and P3-under players.
There were 10 teams for the P5-under, won by BSGP who beat North Skye in the final, while in the P3-under 6 teams took part and BSGP also took the honours by edging out South Skye Eagles.
Player of the tournament in the P5 under was Zoe Broadbent from North Skye, while South Skye's Lyle MacKay was top player on the night for P3-under. Well done all!
Thanks again to all the competing teams who made for two great nights of shinty - Lochcarron, Auchtertyre, Portree Primary, South Skye, BSGP, North Skye & Plockton.

Over the three competitions we've had around 160 players taking part, which is a brilliant effort and a reflection of all the good work being done to support primary age shinty in our area.
Thanks go to all the coaches and volunteers who helped out in various ways - to Kyleakin Hall for the venue; to Katie Drain of the Camanachd Association and young referees Catherine Robertson & Daniel Campbell; to Ina Finlayson and all others who baked and served food (with big shout out to Kyleakin P7s Grace and Madelaine) and to Jenny MacKenzie herself who was there to help and to hand over the prizes at the end of the night. 👍👏👍🏒

⭐️Jenny MacKenzie Shield, P7-under

Indoor tournament season got underway with a great night of shinty on Friday 8th November.
Over 60 players from 11 P7-under teams from Skye and South West Ross participated for the annual Jenny MacKenzie Shield in Kyleakin.
North End emerged victorious on the night – edging out the Bun Sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh Runrig side with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Donald MacDonald.
The final came after stiff tests in the semi-final and a round-robin group stage in which no teams were dominant enough to win all their matches - a good sign of strength in depth!
Goals from Hector Porteous and Donald MacDonald gave North End the win over South Skye Eagles in the first semi final, while in the second semi final the BSGP Runrig team got the better of the BSGP Colmcille team by virtue of an extra time winner. Hamish MacDougall equalised Lila Schuman’s early opener to send the match to added time, but Liam Jones popped up with the all-important goal to settle the tie.
In the group stages Kyle, Auchtertyre A and B, Glenduich, Lochcarron and the South Skye Vikings and Buzzards all contributed to a really encouraging evening for local shinty.
The player of the night award went to Lila Schuman of BSGP’s Runrig team.
Competitions for P1-P3 and P5-under age groups will take place in the coming weeks.
Thanks go to all the coaches and volunteers who helped out in various ways - to Kyleakin Hall for the venue; to young referees Catherine Robertson, Mairi Finlayson and Daniel Campbell; to Ina Finlayson and all others who baked and served food and to Jenny MacKenzie herself who was there to help and to hand over the prizes at the end of the night. 👍👏👍🏒

☀️ Beautiful night for shinty last night as we said a fond farewell to our coach, helper and all round great person Molly, who is off to University in Dundee.
Molly played with us in primary school and in recent years she has devoted countless hours to youth shinty and sport in general in Skye. She is a great example for all young players.
Thank you Molly, and all the best for your Uni days. We will miss you! 🏒 Portree Active Schools Camanachd Association

⭐️Good to have some competitive outdoor action and a great effort from every player in the squads.
⭐️ Tongadale League runners up & in the new development league unbeaten on the night.
⭐️ Congrats to league winners Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh & well done also to North West - there were some great games between three very good teams.
The development league is a great idea and with Porteee Primary and BSGP also involved it should be a good bridge for competitive comps in the coming years.
⭐️ Thanks all who made the event possible - particularly the new Skye Shinty Academy; chair Iain Murray for the smooth running of proceedings; young sports leaders from PHS and referee Bruce Crawford for taking charge of all three league games. 👍

We'll see you all on 3rd June for the Skye sixes in Kyleakin 😀
