Knowle FC

Football Club based in Knowle, Solihull; passionate about the positive development of young players!

31/10/2026

Knowle Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our Men's First Team Match Secretary, Jimmy Merry.

Jimmy was a familiar and respected figure within grassroots and non-league football for many, many years. Through his dedication, hard work and unwavering commitment to the game, he became known to countless players, managers, officials and volunteers across the local football community.

At Knowle FC, Jimmy was much more than a Match Secretary. He was a trusted colleague, a valued friend and someone whose passion for football was on show at every game. Much of the work he undertook was behind the scenes, often unnoticed by many, but his contribution was immense and greatly appreciated by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Jimmy's passing is a great loss to Knowle FC and to the wider football family. He will be remembered for his commitment, his friendship and the positive impact he made on so many people throughout the game.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Jimmy's family, friends and loved ones at this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Jimmy.

U14 Dragons (sponsored by VL Test Systems Ltd) have named their player of the month for September - well done Oona-Mae!

Oona-Mae has started the season in really good form and has played well in a number of positions. Whether it be holding midfield, full back or even centre back, she has been really solid in recent weeks. Oona's positional sense and anticipation is excellent and so she is able to place herself on the pitch to s***f out danger by making interceptions and tackles. On the ball, she has a calmness to her play that often enables her to find a teammate's feet and recycle the ball well; plus she has a cheeky chop in the locker to beat an opponent!

Well done Oona, great stuff!

WEEKEND ROUND-UP!

It felt like a weekend when all fixtures would surely be called off...and the results may have had left some of our teams wishing they had been!

Saturday saw a disappointing defeat from the Mens side in the last 16 of the League Cup. The terrible conditions contributed, but it was one of those days where the home side never got going and fell to a goal in either half. More positive news saw rivals drop points in the league meaning next week's trip to Godmanchester sees us return to the league and massive opportunity to put ourselves back on top spot with Rugby Town playing in the FA Vase.

On Sunday the Vets woke to sunny skies but howling winds, and a phone buzzing with late cry offs. An early phone call got 10 back to a bare 11 with (yet again) unretired David Tomkins stepping in nets, but with backs-to-wall and faces-to-the-gale in the first half, the performance was first class - going in 1-1 after a wonderfully worked goal from Andre Tulloch against a howling wind, there could only be one result and the winner came in the middle of the half, with a long throw from player-manager Adam Elwell causing bedlam with two defenders combining to bundle it into their own net. The Vets go second and are dreaming of promotion (and a full squad next week against Sparkhill).

An amazing experience but a difficult result for the Women, who travelled to the Aston Villa's training ground at Bodymoor Heath for a Senior Cup tie against their Under 21s. Despite the result, it was a great opportunity to play at fantastic facilities and 17 year old Darcey Garner crowned the day with a goal just after half time.

And - yes - there was a game called off - the Pigeons had a Sunday morning off and sit at the top of their division with 6 wins out of 6!

Our U10 Eagles had great fun last weekend as the matchday mascots for our Women's side!

Doggy Day Care sponsored shirts proudly on show, the Eagles definitely bought the energy to the day and it was brilliant to hear them cheering throughout the game.

Thanks to Sarah for organising, and all the Eagles families for their support too!

RESULT: Knowle FC 2-0 Coton Green

A commanding performance by Knowle, who powered to a two-goal lead in the first half, and never looked in danger of surrendering their place in the next round, especially when Coton Green went down to 10 and then 9 men. Knowle played the half out without alarm to secure the 2-0 win.

We go into the hat for the second round, and look forward to a last 16 tie next Saturday in the UCL Cup against Heanor Town.

Get down to the Nest and support the lads!

After last weekend's clean sweep, a tougher weekend for our senior sides!

The Men suffered their first league defeat of the season - having equalised with 5 minutes to go, hearts were broken when Moulton grabbed an injury time winner. They go again with a home game tomorrow evening in the Birmingham Senior Cup against local rivals Coton Green.

The Pigeons kept their good run going with a single goal win against Fieldhouse Athletic, again it was a late late show with McCarthy getting the last minute goal.

A mad first 20 minutes for the Women, who conceded two early, then struck back through Hastings and a belter from Greaves to make it 2-2 - but a classy Shrewsbury Town side took control from there and scored four more without reply.

See you at the Nest under the floodlights on Tuesday!
