Partition day! 🙌🏼

Would you believe that she was actually loading herself this morning to get on there to eat a bucket of nuts?!

That’s right… I wasn’t even required AND this was the smaller of the two lorry’s we’ve been practicing on! 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

I think she’s been secretly laughing at me… 🫠🤪

Loading practice so far! 😮‍💨👌🏼

A little help from Sue to get us going but here we are…. Not making a big issue out of anything. Getting on and getting off.
Repeat.
Getting on.
Getting off.
Repeat….

Tomorrow is closing partitions.
Friday is taking her for a spin and back home again.
Repeat.

Yesterday we had the most amazing first trip away from home!
Now, there are good bits and not so good bits to report 😅🫣

Luna loaded onto the lorry at home with a little persuasion… 3.5T Lorrie’s are scary to those who haven’t travelled them much before. They’re small, you have to master the art of getting on and then turning straight away to close the partition.
TBC.

The hack around Temple Newsome was fabulous. We went with a friend Alex and Hugo and the hack itself brought all sorts of unknown territory for Luna and I.
A small random bridge, scary logs and streams. Most of all we had to hack along side a motorway! 👀
Now… Luna doesn’t like Lorrie’s/ delivery vans or anything bigger than a transit van.
Walking along the side a motorway was a big deal!
Did she behave?
Yes!
Was she scared?
Yes!
Did she listen to me and take my reassurance… absolutely.
I’m so proud of her and what we’ve achieved so far! 💕

She’s a little unsure for silly things, she’s also a little unsure for daily things HOWEVER! we will get there together… she’s sweet and she’s a VERY fast learner!

Now… we got back to the car park.
We untacked…. even had a celebratory wine! 🥂
(We survived! Our first ever hack away from home!! So exciting!)

Then came the loading to come home… 🫠😐

Did Luna want to come home?
No.
Did Luna want to get on the lorry?
No.

After two hours of trying EVERYTHING I could possibly think of… I called for help.

She eventually got onto the lorry with 4 people helping.

Are we going to get help loading?
Yes! For whatever reason, she doesn’t understand…. Watch this space for loading help.

Until then…. She’s a babe. She’s a work in progress and WE WILL GET THERE! 🙌🏼🙏🏼

Until the next trip we will continue to work on everything else but loading is a priority!

💨 Fart power! 🤭🤣

It’s been a slow couple of weeks… I was away for a week and then work has been super crazy this past week.

Working nights isn’t the best for me… I feel I haven’t enough time to fit Luna in before I then have to get ready for work… literally sleep/ work/ sleep/ work
HOWEVER!

Here she is giving some extra enthusiasm 💨 while asking for canter in the Pessoa yesterday morning 🤣

We are building some lunging sessions into our training to help her balance in the canter.

Luna has a really lovely walk and trot and has started some lateral movements easily in these gaits. Canter however isn’t balanced, she rushes, falls onto the forehand and motorbikes around the arena.
Very similar to my late Julie 🤍

So…. The work begins…. 💪🏼🥰

Someone had zoomies yesterday 🤭💨

What should have been a relaxed, long and stretchy lunge session turned into Luna zooming around the arena as fast as she possibly could 🤭🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

No idea why but it didn’t last long… she tired herself out after 5mins 🤣

When your horse is needle shy and thinks every time you go near her with some scissors your going to jab her ☹️

Her mane was well over due.. so we took drastic action and called in the full team! 🤭🥰

One holding a lickit, one holding Luna, one scratching her scratchy bits and one cutting… oh and obviously one videoing because it’s absolutely hilarious! 🤭🤣

We did it though! ✂️💪🏼

It was definitely the singing that helped! 🤣

What a clever girl 🥰
