The Garuda Dhara (chair) is a holistic, seated movement practice blending Pilates, Yoga, and dance.
It enhances deep muscle control, improves coordination, and increases blood circulation through slow, steady, and meditative exercises.
It is accessible to all fitness levels, including people with injuries or movement restrictions.
It improves core and deep muscle strength. Engaging muscles not typically challenged in standard workouts and boosts joint mobility and flexibility with safe, low-impact movements that open up the spine, shoulders and hips.
The focus is on breath driven rhythmic flow to stimulate blood flow and body awareness, thus enhancing coordination and stimulating circulation.
It deepens mental focus combining meditative elements with physical exertion to promote mental clarity and relief from stress.
Garuda Dhara is inclusive for all bodies and ideal for remedial clients, simplifying complex mat or standing exercises, making advanced movements possible for seniors or beginners and providing a safe environment for recovery from joint or muscle injuries and some neurological conditions, like Parkinsons.
This new and unique class takes place on Fridays at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Hall, Orpington.
