A Wonderful Afternoon with Shrivenham Bowls Club!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Shrivenham Bowls Club to Knighton as part of their tour, and what a brilliant afternoon it was!

The green was alive with friendly competition, plenty of banter, and more than a few laughs. It’s always a joy to host visiting clubs, and Shrivenham’s players and supporters made it a truly memorable occasion.

👏 Thank you to everyone who joined us, from the bowlers on the green to those who shared in the fun off it. Days like these remind us what bowls is all about: friendship, sport, and good company. As a club it is great for us to be able to put out a whole family on one rink. This is the second time in the last week we have been able to do this, so thank you to the Bicknell's and Williams families! The future is bright.

We wish Shrivenham the very best for the rest of their tour, and we look forward to seeing them again in the future! 🥂

What a weekend for Rory — two finals in two days, and yesterday he came away with the win, even against his dad in the final. 💙 Commiserations to Ted, but what a special moment to share together.

Rory is the proud winner of the Edwina Owen competition, a lovely way to honour the memory of such a wonderful lady, and so meaningful that it should fall on John Owens’ birthday too. 🌹 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A day full of memories, pride, and love. Well done Rory. ❤️

💔 Our hearts are heavy today. Last night, someone broke into our bowling club and stole hundreds of pounds in cash. It’s not just money that’s been taken, it’s a huge hit to a place that so many of us see as a second home, a space filled with memories, laughter, and community spirit.

To think someone could do this is truly heartbreaking. We work so hard to keep the club going for everyone to enjoy, and this feels like such a cruel setback.

The police are investigating and reviewing CCTV, but if anyone knows anything at all — no matter how small — please, please contact the police.

We’re devastated, but we know our community is strong, and together we can get through this. Please help us spread the word and get any information.
