I wonder what my next challenge should be?

After my hip replacement in September, I set a goal to complete the Rotary Nidderdale Charity Walk on 17th May.

I am raising funds for the Ageing Well service at Chain Lane Community Hub in Knaresborough.This will help fund events and activities for our older residents to help them age well and live their best life.

Staying strong means we can do all those meaningful activities we want to participate in. In class we make it fun and adapt to enable everyone to join in!

💪 Strength doesn’t just happen once a week…
Many of our Move it or Lose it class members choose to top up their strength training at home by being part of the Move it or Lose it Online Club.
It’s a great way to add an extra session during the week, keep momentum going, and build the habit of moving regularly.
And the results speak for themselves. From our latest member survey:
💪 97% are doing strength training at least once a week
💪 47% are doing it twice a week or more
💪 92% feel physically stronger
💪 98% believe strength training is helping them stay independent
And this is what strength looks like in everyday life:
✔ 70% find getting up from a chair easier
✔ 43% find climbing stairs easier
✔ 42% can walk longer distances
✔ 35% find carrying shopping easier
It’s exactly what experts like Professor Janet Lord highlight as one of the most powerful ways to prevent frailty and maintain independence as we age.
Our members aren’t slowing down — they’re getting stronger every week, both in class and at home.
