Trent Valley Gliding Club Announcement

Trent Valley Gliding Club has now concluded operations at Kirton-in-Lindsey Airfield and has left the site.

The Trent Valley crew are out at the Wolds 2-Seater Competition 2025 this week!

We’ve got three teams on the grid — Team TV, Team Janus and Team Marianne — all taking part in this friendly competition. It’s not just about results; it’s about giving our newer pilots the chance to experience competition cross-country flying alongside our more experienced members.

This shot of Team Marianne launching in Z35 was taken on Sunday. The weather hasn’t played nicely so far, but the camaraderie and atmosphere make it all worthwhile. With better conditions expected from Wednesday 20th onwards, we’re hopeful for some classic soaring days 🙏

Hus Bos Challenge Cup 2025 – Trent Valley Gliding Club Makes Us Proud! 🏆

Huge congratulations to Trent Valley Gliding Club and all who took part in this year’s Hus Bos Challenge Cup at Husbands Bosworth!

👏 Special shout-outs to our top performers:
• Stephen Nock dominated the Percy Class, taking 1st place with a stellar average speed of 105.86
• John Williams placed 3rd in the James Class, posting an impressive 101.46 km/h, securing a well-deserved podium finish .

It was a week of bold moves, tactical flying, and camaraderie. Every club member did us proud in the sky and on the ground.

✨ Community Spirit and Soaring Skies at Trent Valley!

Last night was one to remember as we welcomed the local Scouts for an evening of flying fun! The excitement on their faces as they took to the skies was matched only by the buzz around the launch point.

But the highlight of the evening? Taking up Jenny, who at 73 years young asked with a smile, “Any chance I could have a flight too?”

Of course, we couldn’t say no — and she absolutely loved it! It just goes to show: it’s never too late to try something new.

A big thank you to our volunteers who made it all happen — it’s evenings like this that show the real heart of the club. 💙

Thursday brought booming conditions and some of the biggest cross-country flights of the year from Trent Valley’s finest. The task sheets were bold — and our pilots delivered.

Yesterday on Saturday 21st June , we celebrated the summer solstice in true TVGC fashion – flying from 4:06am to 10:04pm, clocking up 54 flights and making memories that will last a lifetime.

This could sadly be our last Longest Day event at our current home, as the landlord has asked for the land back. After 50 incredible years on this site, we’re understandably gutted – it’s been the heart of our club for generations.

But if this was our final solstice here, we certainly went out with a bang. Huge thanks to all the members, volunteers, and early risers who made it such a special day.

We’re now actively searching for a new home and feeling hopeful about positive prospects on the horizon. The TVGC spirit is stronger than ever – and we’re excited for what’s next.

Watch this space. Our story isn’t over. 💪✈️

After some unplanned maintenance on the winch, we commenced our evening flying on Summer Solstice. Fair to say, it did not disappoint, with memebers taking in the Lincolnshire landscape bathed in the sunset light. The last flight landed at 22:15. Thank you to all our members that made Summer Solstice such an amazing day.
