Mid- Northumberland has been the site of many historical events in bygone eras. There are ruins and remnants of settlements ranging from the Iron age, through the Roman period, Viking occupation and many medieval locations(including the mustering for the 2nd Jacobean revolt) which make this area ideal for the increasingly popular pursuit of metal detectoring in the UK.
A new study suggests that there is a multitude of artefacts and coins under the ground waiting to be found!
