Rob Roy was founded in 1878 by a group of young men from the Eastside district of Kirkintilloch and was named after a by then defunct Perthshire Curling Club. Rob Roy are now one of the oldest Scottish Junior clubs still in existence. At first they played friendly matches, but soon joined the Scottish Junior League and in 1927, to the Scottish Intermediate Association. In 1968 Junior Football was reorganised on a regional basis and Rob Roy joined the Central Region of the Scottish Junior F.A. The first listed home ground was Smillies Pond or (Coxdale Park) which was used only for the 1878/79 season, followed by a spell playing on a ground in the Broadcroft area until 1889, when the club moved once more, this time to Kelvindale Park,Kelvinside, There they stayed until 1926, when they relocated for the last time to the present home of Adamslie Park, which prior to that had been the home ground of another local Junior team Kirkintilloch Harp. It was officially opened by Provost John Shanks on 7th August 1926. In 2024 after 10 years away from the town playing in cumbernauld the club moved back into a new modern stadium in the Southbank area of the town. The opening ceremony of the present pavilion at Adamslie Park was performed by Mr John Porter, President of the Supporter's Club,in August 1955, Provost Hugh Gillies was also present. The cermony was followed by a match consisting of players selected from Rob Roy and Kilsyth Rangers versus a Central League X1. The 1961-62 season was their finest achievement, winning the Scottish Junior Cup, the Central League Championship, Coronation Cup and the Dumbartonshire Cup. Scottish Gas Scottish Cup 3rd prelim round

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 2 v Rutherglen Glencairn 1

Historic result for the club today as we beat fellow West of Scotland Football League premier club Rutherglen Glencairn 2-1 to progress to the 1st round proper of our national senior cup competition .

The match itself was tight in general play wasn't much between the sides with Rob Roy scoring two really well taken goals by Greg Burns . The glens scored deep into injury time but it wasn't enough and we saw out the win .
Overall thought we deserved the win .

Standouts today for me the industrious goal scorer Greg Burns , Josh Bolan always looking to make something happen and centre back Michael McGarahan who was solid throughout marshalling the defence .

Challenge Cup 2nd round

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 1 v Tranent Football Club 0

Early round of this cup but a big win for the team and the club against Lowland League East tier 5 league leaders Tranent today at the KCSC stadium .

A fairly even game overall with chances limited both teams fighting for everything then on 80 minutes a fantastic goal from winger Kamil Krol won us the match .

The goal was a great run on the wing eventually cutting inside moving along the pitch before unleashing a great shot that hit the far post before nestling in the net .

After that under a bit of pressure we defended well to see out the game .

For me our best win at the new stadium with everyone in the team playing a part . After a few sore results losing points late on in games when we deserved more this performance showed lots of character .

Stand outs for me the two centre backs Archibald and McGarahan along with Krol Caldwell and Mortimer up front .

Big match next Saturday for the club as we play for a place in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup 1st round proper at the KCSC stadium where hopefully we get a good crowd cheering on the lads .
