A long over due update!!

This year we have seen players chosen to represent Derbyshire and Leicestershire County Teams. An amazing opportunity for those involved and great to see them thriving in their respective teams. We have also seen younger girls rising to the occasion and making fantastic debuts in the senior Women's leagues.

This season will see the Wrenthorpe Women take on strong opposition, home to some overseas players also. A chance to regroup, refine and embody the Wrenthorpe spirit.

The club itself is a great local ground relying heavily on volunteers and the wider Wrenthorpe team. The ground is in great condition this year thanks to all the hard work over the winter, and the clubhouse? Well... watch this space!!

Wrenthorpe Cricket Club and Wrenthorpe Girls and Ladies Cricket Club are delighted to announce that we have once again retained our ECB Clubmark Accreditation for the 2024 season.
The time and commitment required to effectively run a cricket club cannot be underestimated and the retention of Clubmark goes along way to recognising all of the hours put in by volunteers in the running of this wonderful community club.
Wrenthorpe has a safe, welcoming and well organised cricket club and that is vital for the future of the game.
Thank you to you all for your support and help!

Wrenthorpe Cricket Club / Wrenthorpe Girls and Ladies Cricket Club are taking part in the on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March at the ground from 9:30am each day.
There are hundreds of jobs that need to be completed to get the ground anything like season ready. The more people we can get down to the ground the easier it will be for all concerned.

The Clubs Get Set Weekend has been scheduled for Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd April 2023 from 10am to 3pm each day.
All volunteers who could devote a few hours of time would be welcomed to help get the ground tidied in anticipation of the busiest season in recent years.
We have in excess of 60 home games to prepare for this year across all the club. Gonna be a good en.

Happy New Year you Fab Wrens!

In 2023 we are adding another communication group via What's App called 2023 Wren players and families.

I will add the players and parents (of those players under 18) who have already contacted me. Please either ask to join the group if you are committed to playing for us again this season. This is important as it will help firm our recruitment plan. Thanks for those who have already confirmed.

Team App will be used for match reports and monthly updates and What's App, Facebook and Twitter will be our main communication channels with What's App hopefully being the main one.
Just a reminder that Wrenthorpe Ladies Pre-season training starts 16th January.

It's £4 per session or £10 per block of three Indoor training sessions at Stumps Wakefield 2023 from Monday 16th January and then 23rd and 30th at 6.30pm-7.30pm.

We will be changing the days as I am aware of Girls and Ladies still training with their Winter sports. More details on February/March sessions to follow.

Day 25 - Merry Merry Christmas

Dear Friends
Wherever you are; I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and you are able to spend quality time with your families.

Families are so important and the Wrenthorpe family is no different.

You are all part of the family and you always will be.
I look forward to catching up with you all in 2023. It will be a special year for our group.

December 24th - Christmas Eve

Quick getaway to France to check up on our Nantes opposition for next season.
The cricketing journey never stops 🤣🎅

Have a lovely Christmas and thanks to all those players who have already committed to Wrenthorpe for next season as we are already building a strong squad and team.

I had hoped to introduce a new Head Coach this season but it is not going to happen so I will continue to Head up the Girls and Ladies section with a new leadership group to support the process.

An Outreach and Development Coach will be introduced in 2023/24 though as well as introducing some guest coaches over the off-season and summer. More about that in 2023. Next season will be my 16th year of involvement at Wrenthorpe and I cannot wait as there is much more to come from the group. So much potential.
