Well, where do I start? What a long but absolutely brilliant day yesterday. ❤️🎳
Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the competition such a success.
Julie, Jan, Mandy, Cath and Moira for supplying and cooking all the food.
Tom, Hannah and Sophie for keeping everyone refreshed throughout the day.
Gary, Sharon, Bryan, Darren and Phil for measuring.
Jac for organising the raffle.
Joe, Andy and Alan for all the hard work they put in around the green and the surrounding areas. The work they do often goes on behind the scenes, but it is hugely appreciated.
Our greensman for providing such a fantastic playing surface, especially in the face of the recent hot weather.
Peter and Neil for running the sheet and ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the day.
A massive thank you to all the spectators for your support, and to every single player who supported the event and stayed with us throughout the day.
A special thank you to Darren Mercer Plastering for sponsoring the event. Your support is hugely appreciated and helped make the day possible.
The bowling was competitive from start to finish and played in fantastic spirit. It all culminated in a brilliant final, with Owen Jackson and Ash Woof just edging out Dave Worthington and Eamon Hernen 21–20 in a fantastic contest.
To see our club come back from the brink of closure and go on to host days like yesterday makes all the hard work that everyone has put in completely worthwhile.
This competition is, of course, run in memory of my dad, and I know he would have absolutely loved yesterday. Seeing the green full of bowlers, spectators, laughter and competition is exactly what he would have wanted.
A massive thank you to everyone who played a part in making yesterday such a special day. ❤️🎳
