ROCKFIT is back after it's debut in January

This time, we are bringing our live workout experience to Kirkcudbright Fringe and will be joined once again by the fabulous Josephine and the Shades!

If you’d like to enjoy some overindulgence over Christmas without it leaving you feeling guilty, here is the advice I’ve shared with my clients.

It doesn’t need to be every day.
I don’t tend to feel the need to eat my body weight in cheese usually, but at Christmas, it feels like the perfect time.

But if I do that everyday, it’s not going to make me feel energised and refreshed.

So, choose the days you plan to enjoy some indulgence. And on the days you don’t, plan the meals you want to eat that you enjoy but fill you with nourishment, not fill you with a sluggish and bloated feeling.

And on as many days as you can, get out for a walk. First thing, pre dinner or post. Just try and move to give your body a bit of a flush.

Really, it happens once a year. It’s a time to enjoy and share food and drink with loved ones. So don’t feel guilty about enjoying the indulgence. Enjoy it & then get back to the things that make you feel refreshed once it’s over.

A year ago, I was out and about all day on my feet. I could eat pretty much whatever I wanted without it impacting how I looked.

Then, a few weeks ago, I had a little realisation that my jeans were feeling more snug than usual.

The 2018 version of me might have had a meltdown.
But the 2024 version of me did not.

The 2024 me acknowledged that things have changed, there are more hours spent at a desk than on the gym floor now.
There are less training hours through the week to make space for other aspects of life & work.

My priorities shifted for a while and resulted in my jeans feeling tighter. That doesn’t mean I can shift things a little bit again and head back in the other direction.

But even if I didn’t - I’m still happy, I’m still healthy. And I’m not a failure.

Self acceptance is the difference between;

2018 me picking myself apart, sending myself into a negative mindset spiral and turning to food for comfort.

And..

2024 me, who did not bat an eye lid and decided to make a couple of small changes that has resulted in the those jeans feeling comfortable again.

There is power in being kind to yourself, making allowances for your habits slipping & being considerate of your energy.

Gaining a little bit of fat doesn’t mean that’s it there forever.
BUT EVEN IF IT WAS
If you are happy and you are healthy, that’s all that matters.
