2015 CUP WIN ON FATHER'S DAY 🥳🥳
A top tier festival the boys had been looking forward to for a while saw us come home with the silverware as we faced off Cumbria's Band 1 highest level teams at the Aspatria Tournament.
The late afternoon kick off in the blazing sun didn't get off to the best start with our main man in goals Leo out of action for the festival.
Some of the boys had to step up and take their turn in net and they all did a stellar job out of position. Special mention to Layton who offered his services for the majority of the goal keeping and had some outstanding saves 👏
As has become a bit typical of the boys of late, we had a slow start, they couldnt get themselves going but a few draws, a 1-0 loss and a win was just enough to get us out of the group stages. As frustrating as it was that we didn't come out fighting from the get go we did redeem ourselves as the day progressed.
We also need to remember that a lot of the opposition over the border are up to 2 years older than some of our younger members of our squad and they stepped up to play these advanced level older players without question.
After a pep talk and a few changes, the boys managed to find second gear and never looked back. From then, they played with fire in their bellies and took that through to the final where they faced Cleatmoor Celtic, who were undoubtedly the hardest opposition of the day. We dug deep to come away with a 2-0 win and the trophy! Fantastic boys, well done, another one for the cabinet! 💙⚽🏆🥇
Great weekend all round for the boys, big thanks to the 2016s and 2017s who joined us for a World Cup night on Friday, some fiesty in house games, all the boys had great fun playing for the World Cup title even in the torrential rain we had.
A busy final week ahead for our 2015s before our break with the boys heading up to play in the Caskie Cup over the next few nights and another full weekend.
