According to KidsHealth.org, drowning is the second leading cause o

f death for people between the ages of 5 and 24. By teaching your child to swim, they will not only become a stronger swimmer, but also gain valuable experience in the water. This experience greatly reduces the risk of an emergency if your child accidentally falls in an unguarded pool or deep water. Swimming is also a way to have fun while encouraging a healthy level of physical and social activity.

Hi all,
Apologies for the delayed update. We have had a few messages, so this is just an update to clear things up.
The swimming club has not returned since closing during COVID.
Unfortunately, there are no plans at the present time to start back again.
We will let you know if this changes.
If you have any questions or would like to offer help to restart the club then please get in touch.

Update
We are still planning to restart the swimming club. There have been discussions in the background to try and do this.
However, we will need more poolside helpers going forward and COVID officers (at the moment). If you are able to offer support for either of these positions, please get in touch.
We are also keen to understand numbers for swimmers before returning. If your child(ren) is looking to come back, please send us a message with their name and a contact email address / number for you.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to hearing from you.

Update
The club will not be returning yet. There are still a few issues to sort out. Updates will be posted here as things progress. We are planning to return after the summer holidays now.
We would like parents to message us to confirm contact email address and to let us know if your child(ren) will be returning to the club when we restart. This is important, as there are forms to be completed before your child(ren) can return.
If you are available and willing to help, either on poolside or with paperwork, please let us know.

- Ensure attendance records are being kept for contact tracing purposes.
- Report incidents of non-compliance.

COVID Liaison Officer
There is now a requirement for each club to have a COVID Lead and a COVID Liaison Officer. These positions must be filled before the club can return.
Head coach Keith Ireland will take on the role of COVID Lead and will be overall responsible for anything related to COVID.
We are looking for a volunteer to take on the role of COVID Liaison Officer. This role involves attending swimming sessions and monitoring movement around the pool area in line with guidance. This cannot be a coach, as they will be responsible for teaching children and ensuring children’s safety from poolside. Training will be provided online. The individual will need to have a PVG, but this can be obtained in due course.
If you would like to volunteer, please comment or private message.

An update on the club.
We hope all club members and their families are keeping safe and well during this time.
The swimming pool is due to reopen on Monday 14th September. This would mean there would be 4 weeks until the October holidays.
The club committee have decided we will return after the October holidays. This will allow time for teething problems to be ironed out and the correct measures to be implemented.
We are looking for a parent / family member to take on the role of COVID Liaison Officer (more details to follow).
We would like parents to message us to confirm contact email address and to let us know if your child(ren) will be returning to the club when we restart. This is important, as there are forms to be completed before your child(ren) can return.
