Kirkcaldy and Dysart U20s were knocked out of the League Cup following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Dundonald Bluebells U20s.

A disallowed Blair Bowie strike was the Kirkcaldy side's best chance in a closely contested first half. Neither sides' attack were able to break the deadlock with the Kirkcaldy's back four, in particular, producing a disciplined performance going into half time.

The visitors took the lead early in the second half before a red card for Blake Stein reduced Kirkcaldy & Dysart to ten players. Dundonald eventually doubled their lead, but a late Blair Bowie penalty after a cross from the impressive Kai Brown struck the hand of the Dundonald defender led to a tense conclusion to the game, but the visitors were able to hold on to progress to the next round of the League Cup.

All about the pathway 🙌

Under 20s Making An Impact!

Four players from Kirkcaldy & Dysart FC 20s made their way into the first team today. Kobie Thomson played 90 minutes in goal with Danny Douglas, Jamie Findlay and Steven Pate all coming off the bench. It's great to see the development of young players making an impact on the first team.

First Team Manager, Grant Brough, said:

“Finishing today’s match with four Under-20s on the pitch shows there’s a real pathway into the first team. They’ve worked hard for their opportunities, and it’s great to see them taking them.”

Club Chairman Scott Jackson, said of this:

Kirkcaldy and Dysart U20s were narrowly defeated 2-1 in a fiery encounter against Jeanfield Swifts U20s.

The Kirkcaldy side enjoyed an electric start to the game and broke the deadlock within the opening 5 minutes. A well-saved Blair Bowie strike rebounded to Scott Thomson in the 18-yard box who picked out Daniel Duff at the back post to clinically fire past the goalkeeper.

Following a strong opening period for the Kirkcaldy side, Jeanfield Swifts became more comfortable and competitive as the half progressed and equalised from a free-kick after the YM were unable to clear their lines.

A back-and-forth second half saw numerous chances for both sides before Jeanfield Swifts converted a penalty to take the lead on the 77th minute. Despite late chances for Connor Mackie and Danny Douglas, Kirkcaldy & Dysart were unable to find an equaliser with the visitors holding on for the victory.

We would like to wish Jeanfield Swifts Under-20s all the best with their upcoming season.

Kirkcaldy & Dysart Under-20s suffered a 6-1 defeat to Cowdenbeath Central Under-20s in Cowdenbeath.

The Kirkcaldy side enjoyed a bright start to the first half and were rewarded with a goal after 8 minutes. Clever passes through the Cowdenbeath Central lines from Ewan White and Danny Douglas allowed Scott Thomson to smartly knock the ball over the advancing goalkeeper to open the captain’s scoring tally for the season.

However, despite more positive play from Kirkcaldy & Dysart – including three good chances for Jamie Lindsay – the YM were unable to deal with the host’s direct style and conceded 3 goals going into half time.

Although remaining competitive in the second half with chances from Owen Wilson and Danny Douglas, three further goals for Cowdenbeath Central left Kirkcaldy & Dysart waiting a little longer for their first win of the East of Scotland Development League campaign.

Kirkcaldy & Dysart Under-20s slumped to a 5-0 defeat to Oakley United Under-20s, though the score didn’t tell the full story of the match.

The Kirkcaldy side were in firm control of the early period of the game – stifling the East of Scotland Northern Conference Development League leaders and coming close via a Kian Simpson shot from the edge of the box which whistled just wide of the post.

However, a Kirkcaldy & Dysart own goal and an Oakley United effort on the stroke of half-time following a failed clearance saw a poor conclusion to an otherwise stellar first half for the YM.

Despite an excellent penalty save by Kobie Thomson in the final minutes of the game and Kirkcaldy & Dysart continuing to prove more than a match for the visitors throughout the second half, three further Oakley United strikes rounded off a frustrating night for Kirkcaldy & Dysart.

We would like to wish Oakley United Under-20s all the best with their upcoming season.
