Sharing this update from Coastwatch West Fife, who are on duty at Seafield Beach yesterday with radio checks and weather monitoring. Their volunteers give up their time to support coastal safety alongside HM Coastguard, and we’re grateful for their presence in our area. Our local heroes 🫶👍👏💙❤️

Meet Coastwatch West Fife, Our Local Coastal Safety Team
We have a dedicated volunteer coastal safety organisation keeping an eye on the stretch of coastline between Seafield and North Queensferry. Coastwatch West Fife are trained volunteers who monitor the shoreline, support public safety and act as extra eyes and ears along the coast. They work closely with HM Coastguard when needed and provide valuable local knowledge about tides, conditions and coastal risks. They are not an emergency service but they play an important role in helping keep our coastline safer for walkers, swimmers, families and wildlife watchers. We’ve informed Coastwatch West Fife about our upcoming community activities at Seafield so they’re aware of what’s happening along the path and beach. We really appreciate the work they do and the time they give to our area. If you’re out and about along the coast, give them a wave and if you’d like to learn more or support their work, you can find them on Facebook by searching Coastwatch West Fife.
Keeping our coastline safe is a community effort and we’re grateful for everyone who plays a part. 💙

Coastwatch West Fife (SCIO) is a charity organisation which supports the work of HM Coastguard, Ambulance, Police, NHS and other local authorities. We provide an eyes on visual watch and monitoring of VHF Radio Channels, First Aid and Training Services.

Jellyfish Season. What to Know This Summer. As the warmer months arrive, we start to see more jellyfish along the Fife coastline, including some very large ones, like the “dustbin‑lid” jellyfish highlighted recently by the Marine Conservation Society . They’re a natural and important part of our marine ecosystem and spotting them can be exciting for families, swimmers and walkers.

Here are a few simple things to keep in mind:
Look, don’t touch. Even jellyfish washed up on the sand can still sting.
Keep dogs away from any jellyfish on the beach.
Give them space in the water if you’re swimming or paddle‑boarding.
If stung, rinse with seawater only, remove tentacles carefully and seek advice if symptoms continue.
Report unusual sightings to us, it helps us understand what’s happening along our coastline. Message us on messenger.
Seafield Beach is full of life at this time of year. With a bit of awareness and care, we can all enjoy the shoreline safely while respecting the wildlife that shares it with us. Let’s look after each other and our coast this summer! 🌿🌊

Wishing you a wonderful 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough.
Your work has opened our eyes to the beauty and fragility of our planet and your words continue to guide our efforts here on the shores of Kirkcaldy Seafield Beach and our Fife coastal path. Thank you for showing the world why nature matters and for inspiring us to protect it every day. We celebrate you today with gratitude, admiration and deep respect ❤️🌎☀️

Great to see this support for watersports in Fife. Kirkcaldy deserves the same vision especially with the £20 million regeneration discussions happening at the end of May. Our waterfront has so much potential, and this is the moment for the community to speak up. Now is the time to push for similar ambition here in Kirkcaldy.

Great news! 🎉 We've successfully secured our pitch for the water sports hub! 🌊🏄‍♀️ We’re so grateful for the incredible support from everyone who stood by us along the way. 🙏 Your encouragement has been invaluable. 💙

Now, we're moving forward with obtaining the necessary permits 📝 to bring this exciting project to life. If all goes as planned, we aim to have the hub ready to welcome visitors by this summer! ☀️⛵ Exciting times ahead—stay tuned for updates! 🚀✨

🌟 A Huge Thank You to Our Amasing Volunteers! 🌟

Despite the gloomy weather, our incredible Kirkcaldy Soroptimist members persevered and joined us for the Keep Scotland Beautiful Spring Community Event last Saturday 29 March. You all are truly fantastic! Not only do Soroptimists make a difference in the lives of women and girls worldwide, but they also shine bright in helping our environment. 🌍
A special shout-out too, to our members and more volunteers, to everyone who rolled up their sleeves—about 18 amasing people, including our wonderful young volunteers, with all their effort managed to collect 25 bags of litter! Can you imagine the impact if we had 100 volunteers? We'd have the power to wage a war against litter and reclaim our beautiful spaces. 💪
A massive thanks also goes to the Keeping Kirkcaldy Tidy team, always there to support this vital cause, and to the https://www.facebook.com/asdakirkcaldysuperstore Barbara & Jean for donating their time and snacks. You truly live up to your name! 🥪
Check out these snaps from the day, take note—that's not all of our fantastic volunteers, please share your photos—we'd love to see everyone in action! Together, we’re unstoppable. Let's keep our Seafield Beach shining! 🌷✨
