McDermid Ladies 0, Musselburgh Windsor 0
It was a point apiece on Sunday with Musselburgh Windsor and McDermid Ladies playing out a goalless draw in Kirkcaldy.
Musselburgh had the better of the early exchanges but couldn’t trouble Hunter in goal or the McDermid defence. The best opportunity for McDermid came on 20 minutes with Donaldson racing clear on the right but not finding the target with her right footed effort.
The next big opportunity fell again to McDermid however the shot from Rees sailed past the upright after she forced the mistake from the defender.
As the game approached half time there were some good opportunities for both sides. Firstly, the Musselburgh striker found herself through on goal, but the lobbed effort landed wide of the goal and immediately after McDermid found themselves on the attack. Rattray slipped Donaldson through, and her effort was cleared off the line for a corner. From Ritchie’s subsequent corner, Cain’s effort was clawed off the line by the Musselburgh goalkeeper.
The second half started similar to the first with Musselburgh having the early shots on goal however the long-range efforts were easily dealt with. McDermid started creating more opportunities as the half went on though. Donaldson again had a shot deflected wide with the subsequent corner causing panic inside the 6-yard box.
The long ball was causing Musselburgh problems in the swirling wind and Wilson, Rattray and Donaldson were quick to recognise and pounce on opportunities but couldn’t find a way past the goalkeeper. A left foot effort from Rees was also parried by the goalkeeper late on with the goalkeeper gathering up the rebound.
There was still time for Musselburgh to sn**ch the points late on but the hooked effort from a corner landed beyond the far post as the game end in a stalemate.
