🎓💪 KABS AT WIGAN & LEIGH COLLEGE – STARTING THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR TOGETHER! 💪🎓

Today, KABS – Kids Activities & Bootcamps CIC are at Wigan & Leigh College, helping students kick off the new academic year in a positive way! 🙌

For some, today marks the beginning of a completely new journey — new surroundings, new faces and new friendships. For others, it’s about returning to college and taking that next step into another year of their education.

Our team has been asked to deliver a wide range of team-building and problem-solving challenges, designed to get students communicating, working together, laughing and building that all-important cohesion from day one. 🤝🧠

But it’s about much more than just the activities.

✅ Building confidence
✅ Developing communication & leadership
✅ Making new friendships
✅ Teamwork & problem-solving
✅ Developing transferable life skills
✅ Reducing those first-day nerves and stress
✅ And most importantly… putting smiles on faces! 😁

Starting a new academic year can bring excitement, but it can also bring nerves and uncertainty. If we can help students relax, connect with the people around them and realise what they can achieve when they work together, then we’ve done our job. ❤️

A massive thank you to Wigan & Leigh College for inviting KABS in and recognising the value of giving young people a positive, engaging start to their academic year.

☀️ WHAT A SUMMER FOR KABS! 💙

As the six-week summer holidays come to an end, we’ve finally had a chance to look back at just how much our amazing KABS team has delivered — and what a summer it has been!

Across the holidays, we delivered:

⭐ 8 sessions supporting Local Authority events
⭐ 16 sessions in a school in St Helens
⭐ 16 sessions at Southdene Community Centre
⭐ 16 sessions at Tower Hill Community Centre
⭐ 16 sessions at Northwood Community Centre
⭐ 16 sessions at Pool Kings as part of our youth offer
⭐ 15 sessions in London
⭐ 6 sessions supporting Friends of Saxon Green
⭐ Plus additional sessions and activities along the way!

That’s over 100 sessions across six weeks, with approximately 28 children and young people attending each session.

That represents thousands of individual opportunities for children and young people to get active, make friends, build confidence, laugh, learn and simply enjoy being kids. ❤️

And importantly, every child attending our holiday provision was fed. 🍎🥪

But numbers only tell part of the story.

The real success is in the smiles.

It’s the child who arrived nervous on day one and didn’t want to leave by the end.
It’s new friendships being made.
It’s confidence growing.
It’s children trying something for the first time.
It’s our staff getting involved, having a laugh and creating memories alongside them.

That is what KABS - Kids Activities & Bootcamps CIC is all about.

A massive THANK YOU to every single member of our team who worked throughout the summer. Many of our staff come from the very communities we serve, and the energy, commitment and care they have shown our children has been unbelievable.

Thank you to every school, community centre, Local Authority, funder, partner and organisation that trusted and supported us.

Thank you to the parents and carers for putting your trust in KABS.

And most importantly…

THANK YOU TO THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE. 💙

You made our jobs an absolute pleasure. The smiles, laughter, madness and memories are exactly why we do what we do.

This has genuinely been one of the greatest summers we’ve ever had at KABS - not just because of how much we delivered, but because of the people who made it happen.

We’re proud of where we’ve come from.

We’re proud of our staff.

We’re proud of our communities.

But most of all, we’re proud of every child and young person who walked through our doors this summer.

This is KABS. 💙

In our latest guest blog, counselling psychologist Martina Leeven explores the possibility that talking openly and safely can help people feel less alone, more connected and better able to respond.

Martina explains how Climate Cafés and Listening Circles create confidential, facilitated spaces where people can explore climate-related feelings without judgement or pressure to find immediate solutions.
