Aztec Jersey Tristars is a triathlon club for children aged 7-19 years, aiming to introduce the sport of triathlon as well as promote a fun and healthy lifestyle. Our training sessions are led by British Triathlon Federation (BTF) qualified coaches, Dave Holmes, Della Roderick,Richard Whitewood and Sarah Corcoran with support from a number of assistant coaches. Sunday training
We meet for trainin

g at Haute Valle School on Sundays at 11.15 for a one hour run session and a one hour swimming session The run sessions are geared towards improving fitness through a series of drill and fun games. The swimming sessions are led by Island swimming team coach Nathan Jegou with support from Aztec Jersey Tristars coaches. Training sessions are based around front crawl and long distance open water swim technique and have been devised by Nathan specifically for triathlon training. This session is expected to be in addition to ongoing swim training undertaken with your normal swimming club (i.e. this should not be the only swim training session in a normal week). Thursday open water swimming (summer only)
During the summer months we meet for open water swim training followed by a run. This currently takes place in or around the Marine Lake at West Park, meeting over the sea wall from La Fregate cafe. Children need to have a wetsuit, goggles and swim cap and should be able to swim confidently on their own without floats or arm-bands. We start gently and for the younger ones this just means getting used to getting in and getting their faces into the cold water to start with. The minimum age for the run and swim sessions is 7 and for swimming a child must be able to swim 100m comfortably to take part in these sessions. Membership
Aztec Jersey Tristars currently has approximately 60 members we are always looking for more eager triathletes to join us! The cost of membership is £25 per year per person or £100 per year for a family of 5. Races/Competition
We hold several races throughout the season, usually a duathlon series through the Winter months and a combination of aquathlon and triathlon races in the Spring and Summer months. All of these events are free of charge to both members and non-members except for the Main Event of the year for which there will be a small charge. In addition there are opportunities to race off Island and funding is available from the club to help with travel costs. In 2015, our triathletes have raced in Rennes, Portsmouth, Windsor and three of our triathletes have qualified to compete at the Inter Regional Championships in September! If you are interested in joining us for our open day on Sunday, 13 September, or in joining the Aztec Jersey Tristars, please contact [email protected] or message this page directly.

Seaena was the lone Jersey Triathlon Academy athlete performing at the Worcester Super Series South aquathon.

There was a challenging 2 hour delay and the swim was moved to a new lake just minutes before the race was due to start because of excessive seaweed.

Seaena came 2nd overall in the 3 race format. Winning the first race. Coming 2nd in the 2nd.
Unfortunately had to pull out the third due to injury (hopefully nothing serious).

In what continues to be a breakout season for Seaena, here’s hoping there’s more of the same in the remaining races.

To round out the individual Youth racing this morning, Luke Holmes led onto the bike and was part of a two man break who stayed clear with around 6 seconds to the main pack. Luke led out onto the run and hung on valiantly until 500m to go where he was passed for the win but took second place and a GB team slot for Banyoles.

Day 1 results are in!

Seaena and Siena make the A final with 5th and 9th fastest times in the Youth girls, Libby in 51st will be looking to mix it towards the front in the B final.

In the boys race Luke had a comfortable margin coming off the bike and was able to ease off on the run and still record the fastest time of the day to make tomorrow's A final.

Racing starts early tomorrow and it is the finals that count for Super Series points and those all important places on the GB squad for Euro Youth Championships in Spain next month.
