Took all these boys individually for a run today 🏃‍♂️ 800 metres for Harry, 1200m for Fred and the 1600 for Tom all followed by 15 min footy drills each.

Summer hols started, footy training has stopped and the challenge is now to keep them active, fit and enjoying it (and keep them off computers as much as poss 🙏)

They all smashed it and actually surprised me how easily they done it, even little Harry. Well done boys another one later in the week 👊

Just doing what everyone else does these days is a pretty sure way to poor health and physicality

So it is gonna seem at times like you are the odd one out

It seems funny to me that even by just saying no at times can raise so many eyebrows

Let alone if you start making time to do some stuff we clearly have evolved to do

Ignore the noise…..Be an individual…..

Letting ourselves become sedentary, means aging faster than we should be

It just does….

and only you can do anything about it 👊

These type workouts are the ones I have to push myself the hardest to do…Truth is tho it’s cos I find them the toughest ...

Truth is tho it’s cos I find them the toughest and I’m probably the least good at

But for the same reason I undoubtedly also get the most satisfaction when they are finished 🙌

Here’s the workout……..

⭐️ Place 2 cones 20 metres apart

⭐️ Sprint 20 metres and back to the start 3 times (6 sprints total)

⭐️ Then 30 seconds rest - this is one rep

⭐️ Complete 5 reps which is one set

⭐️ Complete 3 sets with 2 min rests between sets

The carry over from resistance training to every day life has a bigger impact than any other activity on the planet….

there I said it, try and prove me wrong I dare you 👊

Better for mobility than yoga, pushes cardiovascular fitness, lowers risk of injury

and even slows down the aging process which will keep you out the care home a bit longer, to the annoyance of the kids 😊

While quite literally making you better at everything, including any activity or sport 🙌

If you can perform 20 lunges with good form you won’t have any trouble climbing some stairs,

build strength and control in the squat movement you won’t be collapsing or plopping into a chair anytime soon

(maybe except the day after training 🤣)

All my clients who come to me for strength training will be worked through certain movements

which we carefully progressively overload based on variations of

Squatting, lunging, hinging, pushing, pulling and carrying…….

And this just like a jigsaw starts to build a complete full body of strength,

No matter what age, cos this isn’t about mr universe,

It’s about everybody moving freely and more easily everyday for longer,

cos getting stronger will slow down what time and life will inevitably do to our bodies,

maybe even making it possible to hit the genetic snooze button….

Resistance training is a privilege, use it while you can 💪
