🔵Halesowen Town South 0 - 2 Kewford Eagles United🟢

We return to action following the Easter break and missing several of our players. We would be without Riley (Long term injury), Jack (Holiday) and our Goalkeeper Toby (Holiday). The boys would have it all to do.

The first game back would also see new signing Arthur make his debut after only 2 training sessions with the team. The lineup would be much changed with Ernie stepping in as goalkeeper, a new defensive line of Arthur and Mason with Dexter up front and James playing out on the left wing, Flynn on the right, George would hold the midfield.

The boys got off to a good start, playing some nice football and winning their tackles to set up quick counters. Ernie was distributing the ball well and picking out some good passes. It would be Halesowen however who created the best chance of the first half after a swift counter which would see Ernie tip a great save onto the post and recover well.

Half Time 0-0

Second half the boys stepped it up, keeping their strong defensive shape but causing more problems. A goal would come mid way into the half with a corner not fully cleared by Halesowen and James getting it back into the danger area where it would be unfortunately turned into their own net by a clearing defender.

Halesowen would push but could not find a way through our resolute defence where Arthur was having a really solid game alongside Mason winning the ball and getting us forward.

The game would end with a long kick outfield by Ernie finding Dexter who knocked on for James to whip a ball in which was finally slotted home by Flynn. A great performance all round.

⚫️Cookley Sports Youth 2 - 2 Kewford Eagles United🟢

Back at Cookley again for another Trophy game this time, the boys were missing 2 players this week and just about able to field a team for this game.

The boys would put in one heck of a performance and really work their socks off in a tough physical encounter. Jack was on fire causing problems all game with his fantastic dribbling and superb passing on show.

Chances were being created but the goal just would not come until a brilliant solo effort from Jack beating 3 defenders and putting us 1-0 up! A second would come not long after with a long clearance seemingly going out for a goal kick until Jack raced onto it and lofted the ball over the goalkeeper from an impossible angle!

Half time 2-0 to the boys!

Second half would be a harder game with Cookley pressing us high and the wind against us and tiring legs they would grab a goal back mid way through the second half to make it 2-1.

Again the boys dug in and started to create a few chances with James smashing the bar from a freekick. However the win was snatched away with a deserved equalizer making it 2-2 in another quality game of football.

Trophy Game 🏆
🟢Kewford Eagles United 1 -2 Starz Academy🔴

Our second game of the Trophy groups at home to a tricky Starz team. The game was closely contested with some strong tackles going in and plenty of good play from both teams.

Starz were creating lots of chances with some skillful individuals opening up our defence but we remained solid throughout. Toby was also playing well in goal on occasions our defence was opened up.

Half time would approach with the teams locked at 0-0 in a competitive game.

Second half Starz managed to get in front and had started the brighter of the two sides, the lead would not last long though as Jack scores an outrageous shot from just inside the Starz half to level the scores up 1-1.

Chances were slim for both teams as midfield duels carried on until heartbreak for the boys as a Starz goal with minutes left to play would ensure they took the win.

Great game of football between two strong teams.

Trophy Game 🏆

🔵Halesowen Town Colts North 1 - 1 Kewford Eagles United🟢

Today was the first round of the Trophy group stage and we were away against a strong Halesowen Town team on a heavy pitch and windy conditions. The boys worked hard first half with the wind behind them but after a mix up at the back would concede a penalty which was narrowly missed down to Toby's right.

This would spur the boys on and they started to play catching Halesowen out on fast breaks and causing lots of problems, chances would come and go with the Halesowen keeper pulling off some great saves. We finally found the breakthrough with Jack picking the ball up and lofting it over the keeper into the top right corner.

HT 0-1

Second half we found the wind causing havoc and often failed to clear our lines as we struggled to break through the Halesowen press. Halesowen were fired up second half and causing lots of problems with Toby having to be alert to keep them at bay.

The game was being played at a really competitive level with both teams battling for the ball constantly, George was having a great game in midfield and winning the ball back to support us trying to break forward.

As the half wore on Halesowen would get the goal they deserved in similar fashion to Jack lofting the ball over Toby and into the corner.

Chances would come and go for both sides with a draw a fair result for both teams.

Another tough game this week against strong opponents in Wordsley Wasps North on a tricky pitch. The boys started strong and for the first 15 minutes created lots of good chances with Flynn and Jack getting lots of joy down both wings.

Our midfield was solid and we recycled the ball well from defence into attack keeping Wordsley at bay. A good run down the left and superb pass to James from Jack would see us grab a deserved goal.

Wordsley however were also growing into the game and Toby had to be sharp in goal to keep us in the game.

As the game wore on in the second half the boys were having to defend superbly well and would see Jack grab 2 goals from quick counter attacking football.

Back at our home today for another fantastic game of football, we welcomed Wordsley Wasps North in what would prove to be a superb game of competitive grassroots football.

Both teams started strong and were passing the ball around well and fighting hard for each ball with some strong physical challenges going in. Chances were few as the ball was being contested in midfield.

Our defence of Riley and Dexter was proving strong and the distribution from the back was exceptional. Flynn and Jack getting plenty of balls out wide and causing problems.

Ernie and James were playing centrally and dictating play and the hard work paid off with a great move started by James and finished off with Flynn smashing one home.

Second half was much the same with Wordsley starting to create more chances and having shots from distance challenging Toby. As the game wore on the lads started to show signs of fatigue with no subs today due a few absences the lads dug in well and battled until the full time whistle.
