London Marathon...tale of two half's! Competed in London Marathon last weekend...first half upto tower bridge a dream come true running London, amazing weather, crowds and experience.
After tower bridge it turned into a nightmare and ran over half the race injured limping over the line in agony about 26 mins slower than I wanted.
Ive never raced just to finish....but last Sunday I did just that, running through the pain to get over the line. Hardest thing ive ever done so atleast I now have those moments to draw on when races get tough again !

So the racing continued apace last week taking part in Proms 3K and National Short Course XC!
Unfortunately both lack lustre performances as I feeling great.
Proms 3K on Friday lunchtime....a race to forget about. I was feeling pretty ropey and almost quite at 1.4 miles but soldiered on in a poor time of 10.26 ish...a time I must have went through 3k at parkrun tens of times 🀦 But I rallied at the end as I sped to the finish..Just to get it over with 🀣

Saturday was the Scottish National Short Course Cross Country Championships. Considering gow i felt i can actually be pretty pleased with the performance finishing mid pack and 20th overall in my age cat. I absolutely loved it though and cant wait to do more XC this season!

Looking into this week I have Shadow Series night trail race on Tuesday and parkrun on Saturday.
LETS GO!

First road race today since I completed the Loch Ness Marathon a month ago.
Headed up to Peterhead for their excellent 10k.
Had a fantastic time on my Metro Abederdeen road race debut, running a solid 36.30 ish on tired legs in windy conditions, finishing 5th and 2nd V40.
Great to be back racing again! 😊

How did everyone's week go?
I managed to hit weekly mileage again and with a quarter of the year done I'm bang on track for my yearly mileage total! Lots of midweek miles and a long run meant my legs found it tough at parkrun and worked too hard into the wind in the first half and died in the second half πŸ™ˆ a chastening experience indeed.
But I'm ready to do it all again next week, with the first Krunce Aberdeen race on Tuesday night 🀩

Lunch Run done 🀝 Finish off the day with a run home after work 🀩Anyone else out running enjoying the sunshine?

Saturday was another parkrun day! I ran down at Aberdeen Beach Parkrun in near perfect conditions clocking my fastest 5k in my 40s and first time I've ran 3 consecutive sub 18 parkruns since 2019! Age really is just a number 🀩
Just fantastic to be running fast and injury free again!!!
Did you run parkrun this weekend? Where did you run and how did you get on?

Not used this page in a long time!!!
Training over the last year had been good and consistent with dividends starting to pay off!

On Tuesday night I was delighted to take the series title at Sunlit Shadow Events Shadow Series, winning 4 of the 6 races in the process.

The Shadow Series is a monthly race held between October and March, racing through Fetternear Estate in the mud, through forests and uo and down hills in glorious mud!!! The race Series definitely helped keep my training honest through the winter months.

Now it's onto the summer Krunce series, a monthly hill race staged from Craibstone Golf Course up onto Brimmond Hill in Tyrebagger Forest between April and September!

Comment below with races you have planned in the near future!
