Continental AFC Continental AFC is an amateur football club and member of the Aberdeenshire Amateur Football Association (AAFA).

Continental AFC is an amateur football team who play their home games at Webster Park, Kingswells and are a member of the Aberdeenshire Amateur Football Association (AAFA) The club's name originates from it's affiliation with the Continental Bar in the Rosemount area of Aberdeen. We play our home fixtures at Webster Park in Kingswells, which is located just four miles west of Aberdeen City Centre. Training generally takes place in the Bridge of Don area.

FT | Continental AFC 0-3 Great Western Utd⚽️

Yesterday we welcomed Premier Division opponents, Great Western Utd, in the first round of the AFC Trophy.

Lots to be pleased about with the first half performance from a Conti perspective - good football being played, decent chances created and a phenomenal work ethic shown by all.

With it at 0-0 at HT, we wanted to give ourselves a chance to nick the game, but unfortunately around 60 minutes the visitors would score their 1st and we wouldn’t quite recover our stride from there-on.

Plenty of positives and confidence to take from the performance, which we will carry into the next game.

Yet another slow start saw us giving the visitors a 2-goal advantage by the end of the first half, going into the break at 3-1.

The only highlight of the first half being a great cross over the keeper from T.Abadi to the head of McGillivray, who’d score his first of the night.

Much better football played after half-time, with the ball on the deck more, Conti would start fashioning chances.

A stray pass from the Ferryhill back line would fall to T.Abadi, who’d take advantage and convert our 2nd with a tidy finish.

Shortly after, Hart would win possession in the Ferryhill third, finding the feet of A.Abadi who would slide the ball over once more to McGillivray, setting him up for his 2nd.

Following that equaliser, a bit of miscommunication on our part would see the visitors regain the lead at 4-3. However, this time, it would be A.Abadi who’d score our next goal, evening the game up once more with a shot from outside the box.

All-in-all, a frantic game.

A much better performance than Wednesday, with plenty positives to take.

Deeside took the lead in the first half and were up at the break.

To the second half, Deeside would then go up by 2, until a clipped ball through to Abadi saw him round the keeper, before being brought down just on the edge of the box. The referee, deeming it a red card offence, reduced Deeside to 10-men.

Paterson would convert the free kick with an excellent shot into the left side of the goal.

Conti would continue to push for a result and looked the more likely of the two teams to score next, given the extra-man advantage, but some unfortunate finishing saw us squander our chances and unfortunately it wasn’t to be on the day.

Deeside then capitalised on a mistake late on to secure the victory.
