It’s TEN WEEKS today until the official Opening Ceremony of the 181st Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta.

Where is the time going?

Arguably the biggest night in Dartmouth’s annual calendar, it will get underway with the formal procession from the Guildhall on Victoria Road to the bandstand in the Royal Avenue Gardens, where the ceremony will commence at 7:30pm on Wednesday 26th August.

After the Regatta is declared ‘open’ by the Regatta Chair, the marching band will then play the Sunset Ceremonial and Beating Retreat along the South Embankment, paving the way for everyone to party into the night with upbeat, live music at the bandstand.

It is one fabulous evening of heritage, tradition, pageantry and incredible music, with an electric atmosphere and big energy as we party into the night and fully embrace the spirit of Regatta.

Not to be missed!

Returning to Regatta is our perennially popular Ice Cream Eating Competition, thanks to the continued support of Salcombe Dairy who make this possible and compere the event.

We know that children of all ages - including adults - love a bit of Brain Freeze, so we’ve announced it nice and early to legitimise your training all summer long 🍦

Don’t say we’re not good to you on here 😜

As we celebrate the Summer Solstice today - the longest day of the year and a time of energy, growth, and connection - we’re inviting you to start a new adventure with BeWild at Dartmouth Regatta.

Dartmouth is uniquely placed within one of England’s most spectacular natural landscapes. What if, together, we could help make it England’s most biodiverse town?

Through small actions, such as creating wildlife-friendly spaces, inspiring children to connect with nature, supporting local habitats, and encouraging people to spend more time outdoors, we can help nature thrive alongside our community.

What you can do:

🐝 Get inspired by visiting https://bewild.uk

🦋 Come and meet BeWild at our Regatta Community Day on Saturday 22nd August in the Royal Avenue Gardens, join in with family friendly activities, and discover how nature connection and community action can all be part of the same journey.

🍄 Create even more momentum alongside over thirty businesses in Dartmouth who have made a BeWild pledge, and find out what they are doing to foster biodiversity in Dartmouth (and be sure to look for BeWild support around town in shop and restaurant windows)

This Summer Solstice, let’s celebrate not just the longest day, but the possibilities that lie ahead! We’re excited to work together with BeWild as we strive to become England’s most biodiverse town.

The ‘OneSails Next Generation Class’ is an exciting, new category being introduced in conjunction with OneSails GBR for the 181st Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta Sailing Week - created to encourage more young adults into competitive sailing after data from the Royal Yachting Association highlighted a decline in participation among 18–29 year olds.

Any racing yacht entered in the Sailing Regatta that has at least one crew member aged 18–29 is automatically eligible for the Next Generation Class, rewarding teams that actively include younger sailors and also helping create a pathway for them into competitive yacht racing.

This World Oceans Day, we’re celebrating the waters that make our sport possible.

There’s nothing quite like being out on the water. The feeling of a sail filling with wind, the spray, the freedom. It’s why so many of us fell in love with sailing and never looked back. At , that love for the sport runs deep.

And because we love it so much, we want to protect it. Our oceans are the reason we get to do what we do, and they deserve our care and respect in return.

We’re proud to sail alongside , who share that same passion for protecting our marine environment. From reducing single-use plastics to promoting sustainable event practices, every action counts.

So let’s make sure the next generation of sailors gets to feel exactly what we feel when they step aboard and head out to sea.

We are delighted to welcome Electro-Jet on board as a new regatta sponsor.

Innovators in electric marine propulsion, they will have their branding out on the racecourse and we are hoping one of their beautifully designed 16ft Dutch Sloeps will be helping deliver the Hunts Cider as you cross the finish line. Not a bad way to arrive.
