Good Morning Everyone,

Thank you all for the shares and likes I have been receiving. So, I wanted to send a message and give you guys some information on something that I hear a lot and which actually….. could be bad for you!

A little insight that I hear a lot as a therapist when someone gets an injury, or a ni**le is “I have been told to rest it”. Where people take this literally as it sounds, sit in the chair and watch EastEnders or start gardening as it’s “how you rest”.

REST…. What you think is the best thing may be the worst thing you can do for an injury! In addition, the term “REST” could be viewed differently and be open to interpretation. This has been taken from the famous I.C.E, P.R.I.C.E or a mixture of the two standing for:

P-Protection, R-Rest, I-Ice, C-Compression, E-Elevation

I am here to tell you that when you receive an injury “Rest” should and is termed as “Active Rest” in order for your muscles, tendons, ligaments etc to repair we must provide them with stimulus with early stage rehab. There is a fine line between remaining active and overdoing it and I see this time and time again where it can go wrong and is easily prevented! Early stage rehab should not be neglected and is vital for your recovery, decreasing pain and ultimately prevent re-injury.

If you get an injury or a ni**le, please get in touch as this is an area that can be easily prevented and can also prolong or even cause repeat of the injury!

Thanks again for all your shares, please send this to your friends, spread the word and take care!

If this interests you, here is a decent article that explains this in more detail.

The P.O.L.I.C.E. Principle may be the new way to ice an injury. It can help you remember the best way to apply ice for inflammation.
